Tlali Returns: Outlaws’ Most Loved and Hated Villain Is Back for Season 2
He’s the chaos agent you can’t ignore. The family menace who somehow built an entire fanbase. The man who turned balaclavas into a movement.
Tlali is officially back for Outlaws Season 2 — and this time, he’s hungrier, wilder, and more unhinged than ever.
Showmax sat down with actor Keketso Mpitso to unpack the return of one of the series’ most unpredictable villains, and why Tlali’s second coming is set to shake the Biyele family to its core.
Tlali Has Returned From the Dead — What Now?
According to Mpitso, viewers should expect a full-power version of the villain they met in Season 1.
“Whatever Tlali did in Season 1… he doubles it in Season 2. If you loved him, you’ll love him more. If you hated him, prepare to hate harder. His villainy levels have officially been upgraded.”
he says
Why Fans Love a Villain Like Tlali
Despite being a menace, Tlali has become one of the show’s most beloved characters. Mpitso credits this to the character’s unique presence.
“Tlali is annoying, different, and unforgettable — especially that voice. You don’t even have to look at the TV. When he speaks, you just know: that’s Tlali.”
he explains
His humour also plays a part. With Nyakallo, Tlali delivers some of the show’s funniest moments, all while plotting mayhem. But once he’s on a mission, the switch flips — and the dangerous version returns.
“It’s that layered personality that creates the love/hate dynamic,”.
Mpitso adds
Building Tlali: Inspirations Behind the Madness
Mpitso describes himself as an introvert, the opposite of the chaotic villain he plays. To bring Tlali to life, he drew inspiration from iconic on-screen villains.
“I’ve always loved villains — they have freedom. They can improvise in ways good guys can’t,”.
he says
Two characters shaped Tlali’s intensity:
- T-Bag (Prison Break) — for the eyes, the tension, the unpredictable edge
- The Joker — especially for wild moments like the Season 1 car explosion, laughter, and gunfire
Tlali’s Evolution: A Cult Leader in Season 2
Season 2 introduces a new, more dangerous Tlali — one who now commands a cult-like army of balaclava-wearing followers.
“This season, Tlali is a different person. He believes everything he does is correct — and that’s dangerous. When someone thinks they can’t be wrong, there’s nothing stopping them.”
Mpitso explains
With followers behind him and delusion-level confidence, Tlali becomes fully unhinged.
Outlaws and the Rise of Keketso Mpitso
The impact of Outlaws on Mpitso’s career has been huge.
“Outlaws opened doors for me. I got more auditions, and directors reached out because they’d seen my performance. The opportunities really grew from this role.”
he says
Why You Should Watch Outlaws Season 2
Mpitso promises a season packed with surprises.
“You can’t predict anything this season. Whatever you think is going to happen… you’re wrong.”
He’s also excited for viewers to experience the new music, energy, and fresh faces joining the cast — including Noluthando Ngema (Sihle), Thandolwethu Zondi (Mthunzi), and Mamodibe Ramodibe (Buang).
Stream Outlaws Season 2 on Showmax or watch it on Mzansi Magic (Channel 161) every Saturday from 22 November 2025.
