The MATH Wine Club Sets a New Benchmark as Latest Experience Sells Out
Math Restaurant continues to shape Johannesburg’s wine and culinary scene with another sold-out MATH Wine Club experience, reaffirming its status as the city’s leading destination for refined yet welcoming wine culture.
Hosted at Waterfall Corner on Thursday, 23 October 2025, the evening treated guests to an unforgettable four-course tasting journey paired with exquisite wines from Taaibosch Wines and Le Chant Wines — two labels synonymous with craftsmanship and character.
Guests were welcomed with freshly shucked oysters, paired with Le Chant Chenin Blanc, setting the tone for an evening defined by elegance and balance. The wine’s crisp minerality enhanced the delicate oceanic notes of the oysters, offering a refreshing and sophisticated start.
The second course, featuring wild mushrooms, was thoughtfully paired with Pink Valley Rosé. The wine’s floral undertones and lively acidity complemented the earthy richness of the dish, highlighting texture and depth in every bite.
The star of the evening was undoubtedly the glazed duck in orange sauce, served alongside Taaibosch Crescendo. This dish captivated the room, with guests describing it as “a masterstroke” and “breathtaking.” The duck’s aromatic glaze was elevated by the wine’s layered complexity, resulting in an unforgettable harmony on the palate.
To conclude the night, guests indulged in a velvety chocolate dessert wrapped in cannoli, paired with Le Chant Rouge. The rich pairing delivered a moment of pure decadence, closing the evening with well-deserved applause.
