South African producer Frank Mabeat, real name Frank Ngwenya, has once again proven his versatility with the release of Smomondiya, a soulful Amapiano single that merges heartfelt romance with signature grooves. Hailing from Pienaar, Mpumalanga, Frank started producing music in his teens—initially rooted in hip hop—before transitioning to Amapiano, where his emotionally rich sound has captivated fans locally and abroad.
Mabeat has cemented his place in the music industry with collaborations alongside the likes of Usher, Oscar Mbo, Soa Mattrix, Murumba Pitch, Dinky Kunene, and more. Recently, he was one of a few South African producers handpicked to remix Usher’s official track “Ruin.”
Following the success of his Nyeleti project, which featured artists like Cici and Eemoh, Frank returns with Smomondiya, a deeply emotional tribute to love before the age of instant messaging and swipe-right culture. Mawhoo—celebrated for her platinum collaborations with DJ Maphorisa, Kabza De Small, and Master KG—delivers a tender and timeless vocal performance, while B33kay SA adds his poetic finesse to the narrative.
Through lush melodies and sentimental storytelling, Smomondiya celebrates a love that moves mountains—bold, nostalgic, and unforgettable.
