Two of South Africa’s most groundbreaking artists, jazz artist Nduduzo Makhathini and Glitch lover FKA MASH, have come together to present a reimagined version of Re-Amathambo. Originally featured on Makhathini’s acclaimed album In The Spirit Of Ntu, the song—featuring Austrian vocalist Anna Widauer—is deeply rooted in African spirituality and storytelling.
Now, with FKA MASH’s signature Afro-house touch, the track takes on a fresh energy, seamlessly blending jazz’s rich textures with electronic rhythms. This remix highlights the synergy between traditional jazz and contemporary dance music, bringing Makhathini’s profound message to the dance floor.
“I’m so glad these songs/messages are finding life in various places, particularly on the so-called ‘dance floor’—that is incredibly important for me. As always, gratitude to big bro @realblackcoffee for guiding this part of my journey.”
Announcing the remix on Instagram, Makhathini expressed his excitement:
The remix is accompanied by an animated visual on YouTube, created by Sean Crozier, further enriching the sonic experience. FKA MASH, known for his emotive electronic productions and collaborations with global icons, has masterfully preserved the soul of Re-Amathambo while injecting a hypnotic, club-ready pulse.
As the remix makes waves worldwide, it stands as a testament to the limitless possibilities of musical fusion—where jazz and electronic music thrive in harmony.
