Kiko Navarro, Gÿe – Nanadi

Following two more spiritual and contemplative releases on his Afroterraneo imprint, Kiko Navarro delivers ‘Nanadi’ (Release Date: May 24th, 2024), a dancefloor bomb with an eye toward the summer festival season ahead.

Kiko Navarro and Gÿe first met in the autumn of 2023, when Gÿe grabbed the mic and began improvising vocals over Navarro’s DJ set. Kiko was so struck by some of the melodies that he recorded them on his phone right there and then, and quickly invited Gÿe to his Mallorcan studio in the following days.

The first fruit of the pair’s collaboration, ‘Nanadi’ gives its improvised name to an imaginary sonic planet the pair began to explore that day in the studio (as depicted in the cover art). The potent, energetic, Afro-tinged beats and bass-lines will be familiar to fans of Kiko Navarro, but those layered, acrobatic, electrifying vocals seem to come from another world entirely.

Gÿe is a multi-disciplinary artist: producer, performer, DJ, percussionist, vocalist, improviser and graduate of Berklee College of Music. Having previously collaborated with the likes of Victor Mendoza, Walter Thomson, Victor Wooten, and Patrice Rushen, Gÿe continues the mission of spontaneous on this, the first of many projects with Kiko Navarro, we hope.
