Natalie Duncan – Are You Getting Enough (inc. The Degrees Remix)
Goldie and Fallen Tree 1Hundred proudly present the latest single release from London singer-songwriter, Natalie Duncan, ‘Are You Getting Enough’ – Remixed by Fallen Tree label mates, The Degrees.
For the recording of new songs for Fallen Tree 1Hundred, released every few months throughout 2022 and into 2023, Natalie teamed up with musician friends close to her heart – Long-time collaborators Richard Spaven on drums and Alan Mian on bass, along with synth programmer Laurence Jepson, guitarist Rashaan Brown and up and coming producer/engineer in the studio, Chris Hewitt.
Fresh from the release of their stunning debut album ‘The Day Out of Time ‘on Fallen Tree 1Hundred, Isha Campbell and Charlie Bierman aka The Degrees rework and remix ‘Are You getting Enough’ into a slick, 90s-edged, Pete Rock-esque hip hop groove. The remix celebrates the original song while adding a distinct club flavour, with the DJs and beat-mixing clearly in mind.
Natalie talks about her original version of ‘Are You Getting Enough’ …
“I wrote this song quite a few years ago now. I love harmony and I’m obsessed with chords, I’m on a never-ending journey with harmony and this song is a tiny exploration into that. I get a bit carried away with the synths towards the end! In my mind, this song has a lot of pop sensibilities. It is ‘light’ in mood and has a catchy vocal line at the end that repeats in a way that suggests a family or a group, singing in unison. The lyrics are about a girlfriend of mine who was caught in a toxic relationship. She’s addicted to the drama and all he ever does ultimately is hurt her…”
