Global sports company PUMA has recently released a new video that showcases the iconic Suede silhouette and the shoe’s game-changing history.

With over 50 years of life in a shoe, the Suede became a classic while going through several names. Beginning as the PUMA Crack, the shoe evolved into the Clyde, then PUMA States, and finally, globally adopted the name PUMA Suede.

The new video explores what makes the Suede such an icon by looking at the historic moments surrounding the shoe. It includes insights from the trailblazers that brought the shoe to the cultural stage, Tommie Smith and Clyde Frasier, along with commentary from June Ambrose, Emory Jones, Cordae, PUMA employees and sneaker collectors. The full video can be viewed above.

The PUMA Suede has been an intrinsic part of both cultural and footwear history and will continue to be for all time. Always available on PUMA.com, PUMA stores, and retailers worldwide. The latest to join the Suede family is the Suede Triplex – a fresh take on the classic Suede with a tripled up formstrip in a material mix and amplified design details. Available from 16 June for R1 599 from PUMA.com, PUMA stores, OFFICE London, Shelflife, Superbalist and Sportscene.
