5 October 2025 @ 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm
South African pianist, composer, and scholar Dr Sibusiso Mash Mashiloane brings his latest album ISIGQI – Live at the bird’s eye to Cape Town this October for an intimate and profound performance at the Youngblood Gallery. The concert takes place on Sunday, 5 October 2025, and promises to be more than just a musical event — it is a cultural ritual, a sonic offering, and a celebration of identity.
ISIGQI: More Than Music
ISIGQI is a deeply reflective body of work rooted in African philosophies, ancestral memory, and community-based sound traditions. For Mashiloane, this project is not simply about performance, but about honoring those who have shaped his musical and personal journey. Each composition serves as a living tribute to individuals whose cultural and spiritual resonance continues to inspire him.
At its core, ISIGQI is about connection: to the past, to community, and to the rhythms of everyday life. It embodies Ubuntu, blending the vibrational power of African drumming with South African harmonic languages, and inviting audiences into an immersive collective experience.
