Proudly SA Local Wine Expo Returns to Celebrate South Africa’s Finest Wines

Wine lovers are invited to raise a glass to local excellence as the Proudly South African Local Wine Expo returns from 24 to 26 July 2026 at Prison Break Market. The three-day event promises an unforgettable celebration of South Africa’s rich wine-making heritage while creating valuable opportunities for local wine producers to grow their businesses.
As winter settles in and temperatures drop, the annual expo offers the perfect opportunity to discover and enjoy some of the country’s best wines alongside fellow enthusiasts, friends, and family.
More than just a wine-tasting event, the Local Wine Expo serves as an important access-to-market platform for Proudly South African members involved in wine production. Over the past three editions, the expo has showcased 30 local wine brands per event, with an impressive 74% of participating businesses being black- and female-owned.
The initiative aims to strengthen commercial opportunities for local producers while highlighting the significant role the wine industry plays in South Africa’s economy. According to SA Wine, the sector contributes approximately R19.26 billion to the country’s economy through its activities and value chain.
Proudly South African Chief Executive Officer Eustace Mashimbye emphasized the importance of supporting local producers during a challenging period for the industry.
“South Africa is ranked seventh among the world’s major wine-producing countries, producing approximately 9.3 million hectolitres of wine in 2023. Despite our globally acclaimed wines, the industry faces challenges, including tariffs on exports to key international markets. Consumers can play an important role by supporting local wine brands and helping to build a resilient and sustainable industry,”.

Visitors can look forward to much more than exceptional wines. The event will feature the exciting Shesha game activation, a fast-paced local knowledge challenge with prizes up for grabs throughout the weekend.
Food lovers will also be treated to a variety of offerings from Proudly South African members, including delicious local cuisine and perfect wine-pairing snacks such as cheese, crackers, and biltong.
Best of all, entry to the event is completely free, giving visitors more reason to explore new varietals and support local wine producers.
Wine enthusiasts are encouraged to register early as spaces are limited. The event is strictly for adults aged 18 and older. Guests are also reminded to drink responsibly and make use of e-hailing services, designated drivers, or chauffeur services when attending.
