Durbanville’s 2026 Colab Sauvignon Blanc Debuts

8 May @ 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm

FIVE YEARS OF PERFECTION: DURBANVILLE UNVEILS LATEST COLAB SAUVIGNON BLANC

The countdown is over. The highly anticipated 2026 Durbanville Sauvignon Blanc—an iconic collaborative vintage from Durbanville Wine Valley—has officially been signed off and is ready to make its grand debut.

Marking a significant milestone, this year celebrates five consecutive years of collaboration among the region’s top winemakers. Over half a decade, this united vision has consistently delivered a world-class Sauvignon Blanc style that wine lovers have come to trust and admire. The result? A refined, signature expression that firmly positions Durbanville as the home of South Africa’s “Super Sauvignon Blanc.”

A Landmark Release Meets a Signature Event

The first public tasting of the 2026 vintage will take place at the prestigious Sauvignon Soirée, hosted at Cassia at Nitida Wine Estate on Friday, 8 May.

This exclusive evening promises more than just a first sip. Guests will experience unlimited tastings from 12 Durbanville wine farms, alongside a curated selection of aged Sauvignon Blancs that highlight the variety’s remarkable ageing potential. Complementing the wines are gourmet canapés and live music, creating a vibrant yet sophisticated atmosphere.

With tickets historically selling out fast, early booking is strongly advised for those wanting to secure a place at one of the Cape’s most sought-after wine events.

The Power of Collaboration

The Durbanville collaboration project, launched in 2022, was built on a simple but powerful idea: combine the valley’s finest grapes with its most skilled winemakers to produce a benchmark Sauvignon Blanc.

For the 2026 vintage, blending responsibilities were entrusted to Diemersdal Wine Estate, with acclaimed winemaker Juandré Bruwer leading the process. Supporting the effort was a panel of expert winemakers guided by Charles Hopkins, ensuring only the best expressions made the final cut.

According to Bruwer, the collaboration represents the very heartbeat of Durbanville—a community-driven effort rooted in shared passion, innovation, and mutual respect. The final wine is not just a blend of grapes, but a reflection of the region’s soils, climate, and collective expertise.

A Perfectly Timed Celebration

The release coincides with International Sauvignon Blanc Day, adding even more significance to the occasion. It’s a fitting tribute to a variety that continues to shine on both local and international stages.

Backed by a legacy of awards and growing global recognition, the Durbanville Colab Sauvignon Blanc stands as a shining example of what can be achieved when excellence is pursued together.
