Clearwater Mall Race Targets 3,500 Runners
22 August All day
The West Rand is getting ready to lace up again. On Saturday, 22 August 2026, Clearwater Mall will become the starting point for thousands of runners as its annual road race returns for its 12th edition.
But this isn’t simply another event on Gauteng’s busy running calendar. The race has grown into a community fixture — one where serious athletes, weekend runners and families can all share the same starting line.
This year, organisers are aiming higher: 3,500 runners.

Last year’s race attracted 2,863 entries, setting the stage for what could be the biggest edition yet.
Three Distances, One Starting Line
The event continues its partnership with Panorama Running Club and offers three distances designed to bring different parts of the running community together.

The 21km half marathon and 10km race are geared towards more experienced runners, while the 5km fun run takes a more accessible approach, welcoming families and children from the age of five when accompanied by an adult.
That mix is important.
Running culture in South Africa isn’t only about chasing personal bests. It’s also about community, routine and finding reasons to get active together. The 5km gives younger participants and casual runners an opportunity to experience the atmosphere without needing to be seasoned athletes.

The 21km and 10km races start at 7am, followed by the 5km at 7.15am.
More Than Just a Medal
Every finisher receives a medal, but competitive runners have plenty more to chase.
Prize money is available across age categories for the 21km and 10km, while the 5km also rewards its top performers.
Then there’s the King and Queen of the Mountain challenge.

The fastest male and female runners in the 21km and 10km races can compete for additional rewards, including Clearwater Mall gift vouchers and course-record prizes.
It adds another layer of competition to a race that is already attracting attention for its growing field.

Building a Bigger Running Community
The push towards 3,500 participants says something about the changing role of community sporting events.
A mall might traditionally be associated with shopping, entertainment and dining, but events such as this transform the space into something different — a meeting point for movement, local connection and shared experiences.

For young Gauteng residents especially, that community element can be just as valuable as the finish time.
Whether you’re chasing a personal best, introducing a child to running or simply looking for a reason to get moving, Clearwater Mall‘s 2026 race offers multiple ways to get involved.
Entries close at midnight on Tuesday, 18 August 2026, with in-person entries also available at Entrance 5 on 20 and 21 August.
The road is waiting.
