Produced by Ngomoya Films, Amanzi Endlini marks the return of Makgotso M to television screens in a bold and emotionally charged role.
The three-part drama follows Nothile, played by Makgotso M, who agrees to become a surrogate mother for her close friends — a traditionally married couple struggling with fertility challenges. However, what begins as an act of compassion soon spirals into emotional tension, mistrust and complications that threaten to tear relationships apart.
The series stars Keke Mphuti as Seipati, Nkanyiso Makhanya as Nkanyiso, Makgotso M as Nothile, Deli Malinga as MaMntungwa and Monnye Kunupi as Gadifele.
Speaking ahead of the premiere, Makgotso M admitted that her first reaction to the script was immediate curiosity about the complexity of her character.
“My first thought was, ‘Aaah! Another controversial character!’ But as an actor, you can’t judge your character. The challenge for me was making Nothile both controversial and likeable at the same time.”
she shared
The actress explained that she enjoys portraying layered personalities because real people are naturally complicated. According to her, the goal was to bring humanity and relatability to a character viewers may initially struggle to understand.
Throughout the story, Nothile’s decision to become a surrogate mother creates emotional strain between the couple, forcing everyone involved to confront difficult realities surrounding surrogacy, fertility and family dynamics.
Makgotso M revealed that while she personally would not choose surrogacy for herself, she believes society still needs more open-minded discussions around IVF, infertility and alternative paths to parenthood.
“I think society still needs more open-minded conversations around these topics,”.
The actress also addressed how audiences often react strongly to controversial television characters, saying she takes it as a compliment when viewers become emotionally invested in her performances.
Even more than a decade later, audiences still remember her role as Onika in Muvhango, proving the lasting impact strong storytelling can have.
Makgotso M also praised veteran actress Deli Malinga, describing their on-screen collaboration as “phenomenal” and highlighting the legendary performer’s humility and willingness to continue learning despite her long-standing success in the industry.
Beyond acting, Makgotso M shared that she is currently focused on building multiple streams of income, returning to school and exploring new business opportunities outside entertainment.
She believes Amanzi Endlini will spark meaningful conversations about fertility struggles, societal pressure placed on women and the realities many couples silently face when trying to conceive.
Amanzi Endlini airs on Mzansi Magic (DStv Channel 161) from 25–27 May at 19:00 and will also be available on Catch Up.
