Capitec Powers Rebirth of Ubuntu Concert

29 May @ 7:30 pm – 30 May @ 12:00 am

The highly anticipated Rebirth of Ubuntu Concert returns with renewed energy and purpose, proudly announcing Capitec as its new headline sponsor. This powerful partnership reflects a shared commitment to uplifting South African culture, empowering youth, and strengthening the country’s creative industries.

Set to take place at the iconic Joburg Theatre over two unforgettable nights on 29 and 30 May 2026, the concert continues to grow as a cultural beacon that celebrates unity through music and storytelling.

A Celebration of Legacy and Culture

Now in its 5th edition, the Rebirth of Ubuntu Concert takes on the theme “50 Years of Youth Legacy,” honouring the enduring impact of young voices in shaping South Africa’s cultural identity. Curated and produced by acclaimed guitarist and composer Billy Monama, the event masterfully blends heritage with contemporary expression.

“This alliance with Capitec mirrors our joint vow to access, inclusion, and real community change. Together, we champion social good, culture, and storytelling to lift communities through art and heritage.”

Echoing this sentiment, Asha Patel, Head of Brand and Communications at Capitec, highlights the deeper purpose behind the partnership:

“Capitec is thrilled to sponsor the Rebirth of Ubuntu concert, a celebration of South Africa’s rich musical heritage and cultural diversity. The concert’s vision honours the legends that shaped our sound while inspiring the next generation to carry that legacy forward.”

A Star-Studded Musical Experience

This year’s lineup reads like a who’s who of South African music excellence. Leading the charge is the award-winning powerhouse Lira, joined by the soulful and genre-defying Zoë Modiga.

They are accompanied by the emotive storytelling of Vusi Nova, the internationally celebrated jazz vocalist Tutu Puoane, and Monama himself, whose visionary artistry ties the entire experience together.

Elevating the performances is a majestic 20-piece orchestra, arranged and conducted by Grammy-winning producer Joe Arthur, promising a rich and immersive sonic journey.

Adding even more prestige to the occasion is honorary artist Jimmy Dludlu, a legendary figure whose influence on South African jazz and fusion music continues to resonate globally.

A Movement Beyond Music

Supported by the City of Johannesburg, Joburg Theatre, and Artis Alive, Capitec’s Rebirth of Ubuntu Concert is more than just a musical event—it’s a movement rooted in reflection, resilience, and renewal.

Audiences can expect a transformative experience where music becomes a bridge between past and future, turning memory into legacy and creativity into hope.

As the rhythm of Ubuntu rises once more, this year’s concert invites South Africans to come together, celebrate their shared heritage, and be part of a powerful cultural renaissance.
