Showmax Subscribers to Get Trial Access to DStv Stream Compact
Subscribers of Showmax are set to experience a major upgrade as MultiChoice rolls out trial access to DStv Stream Compact. This move signals a shift toward a unified streaming experience, combining on-demand content, live TV, and sport into a single platform.
A New Streaming Home for Showmax Originals
As part of the transition, Showmax Originals will now live on DStv Stream, giving subscribers access to a broader entertainment ecosystem. This includes international series, blockbuster movies, kids’ content, and live sports powered by SuperSport.
The integration ensures viewers can enjoy their favourite local stories alongside global hits—all within one app. Features such as Watch From Start, offline downloads, and data management tools enhance the viewing experience across mobile devices and smart TVs.
Trial Access and Exclusive Pricing
Eligible Showmax subscribers will receive trial access to DStv Stream Compact until the end of May 2026. Details on how to activate the offer will be sent directly to users via their registered email addresses.
After the trial, customers can continue streaming at a significantly reduced rate of R99 per month for 12 months, provided their subscription remains active and payments are up to date. This represents a saving of up to 75% compared to standard pricing.
Who Qualifies?
The offer is available to qualifying Showmax subscribers, including those without an active DStv subscription. It applies to all Showmax plans, including Showmax Premier League subscribers.
However, existing DStv customers who already receive Showmax as part of their package—or who bill Showmax through DStv—are excluded from this promotion.
Simple Sign-Up Process
Showmax subscriptions will not automatically migrate. Users who want to continue watching will need to sign up for DStv Stream using the instructions provided via email. The process is quick, taking less than five minutes, and includes creating a new profile.
For those who opt out, refunds for unused portions of Showmax subscriptions are available, subject to standard terms. Autopayments will also stop once the service is discontinued.
Showmax Platform Shuts Down in April
The current Showmax platform will officially be discontinued on 30 April 2026, with all Showmax Originals transitioning fully to DStv Stream.
What to Watch on DStv Stream
Viewers can look forward to an exciting lineup, including the true-crime series The People vs VBS, available from 1 April. Fans of local adaptations can catch the finale of Die Kantoor on 12 April, while legal drama Law, Love and Betrayal continues with weekly episodes.
Sports fans can also stream major events like the Soweto Derby live on 26 April, bringing stadium energy straight to their screens.
With this move, MultiChoice is reshaping the streaming landscape in South Africa—offering a more comprehensive, flexible, and cost-effective entertainment solution for modern viewers.
