VIP Preview and Public Exhibition
The featured piece will be previewed on 19 February 2026 for invited VIP guests, collectors, and industry leaders before opening to the public from 20 to 23 February 2026 at BlackBrick Foreshore.

Set within a space known for its strong commitment to South African artists and its seamless integration of art into everyday environments, BlackBrick Foreshore provides an ideal context for work that reflects real lives, resilience, and truth. Willemoes-Wissing’s presentation offers an intimate yet visually striking exploration of womanhood, sacrifice, identity, and endurance.
A Global Artistic Journey
Born in Rio de Janeiro to a Danish father, Willemoes-Wissing’s creative path has been shaped by extensive global travel and cultural immersion across more than 70 countries, including Denmark, the Los Angeles, New York, Florida, Germany, Australia, and South Africa, where her works now reside in private collections.
Surrounded from childhood by musicians and visual artists, she developed a multidisciplinary passion spanning painting, dance, ballet, and singing—elements that continue to inform the emotional depth of her visual language.
Art That Challenges and Reveals
Willemoes-Wissing is known for pushing beyond convention, creating work that is courageous, unfiltered, and emotionally direct. Constructed from collected sanitary pad covers and assembled into quilt-like compositions, her practice transforms hidden, everyday materials into bold statements of strength and beauty.

At its core lies a powerful message: equality does not require sameness—true equity honours difference while demanding equal rights.
A Must-See Moment in Cape Town’s Art Calendar
For collectors, art lovers, and visitors to the fair, this presentation stands out as one of the most meaningful contemporary showcases of the season.
Looking ahead, audiences can also anticipate Willemoes-Wissing’s March exhibition, Burlesque, created in collaboration with fellow artist Max Wolpe and curated by Robyn Lidsky, promising another compelling chapter in her evolving artistic journey.
