Hello Sunshine’s acclaimed documentary initiative The Rise continues its powerful storytelling journey on 16 February 2026, with the exclusive Peacock debut of The Gold Medal Girls of X Games. Produced by Hello Sunshine in collaboration with Ally Financial and the Lyda Hill Philanthropies’ IF/THEN® Initiative, the feature-length film expands the landmark series chronicling the rapid evolution and cultural impact of women’s sports.
A New Generation Takes Center Stage
For three decades, the X Games has stood at the crossroads of youth sport, music, fashion, gaming, and creator-driven storytelling. The Gold Medal Girls of X Games drops viewers into the sun-drenched, rebellious skate culture of Southern California, following four teenage prodigies on their journey toward X Games Ventura 2024.

More than medal contenders, these young athletes are dismantling long-standing barriers in a traditionally male-dominated skateboarding scene and ushering in a bold new era for the sport.
Star Power and Visionary Storytelling
The documentary features appearances from skateboarding legend Tony Hawk alongside rising stars Arisa Trew, Shiloh Catori, Reese Nelson, Jada Ward, and other influential figures shaping the culture.

Directed and executive produced by Patty Ivins Specht—known for acclaimed projects including Billie Jean King’s Groundbreakers and Light in the Water—the film brings an intimate, character-driven lens to the athletes’ journeys. Additional executive producers include Josh Rakic, Jeff Moorad, Vince Castellanos, and Pete Dellaria.
Across The Rise, executive producers are led by Academy Award winner Reese Witherspoon alongside Sara Rea, Zoe Fairbourn, Sue Kinkead, Lyda Hill, Ty O’Neil, and Nicole Small, with Ashlyn Harris serving as consulting producer.
Expanding the Future of Women’s Sports
With its 16 February premiere exclusively on Peacock, The Gold Medal Girls of X Games reinforces The Rise as a defining documentary platform capturing the momentum, visibility, and cultural transformation of women’s athletics worldwide.
