27 June 2025 @ 6:00 pm – 28 June 2025 @ 2:00 am
Where the Verse, the Vibe, and the Voice of the City Collide
BarFest returns to Untitled Basement on Friday, 27 June 2025, with another unforgettable edition of The Lyricist Series, curated and hosted by South African rap icon Stogie T. This monthly gathering has quickly become a cornerstone of Johannesburg’s hip hop scene—an unfiltered celebration of the genre’s most potent elements: bars, beats, and bravado.
The June edition is headlined by trap heavyweight Emtee, who will bring his chart-dominating anthems to life with the raw passion that has earned him a cult following. Joining him is the introspective lyricism of Shane Eagle, whose thought-provoking verses are bound to electrify the room, alongside Frank Casino, known for his effortlessly cool delivery and dynamic stage presence.
Adding a bold new voice to the lineup is Firdy, a rising star whose fearless performance style is set to leave a mark. BarFest prides itself on spotlighting the future of hip hop, and Firdy’s set will be a standout for fans of the genre’s ever-evolving soundscape.
A BarFest tradition continues with the Showcase Battle, where reigning champ Illy Amin faces off against the formidable Ta Longz in a lyrical showdown that promises to bring fire to the mic and fuel to the cypher.
Legendary DJs Amu, Osmic, and DJ Zan D will command the decks throughout the night, spinning hip hop in all its forms—from boom bap classics to modern-day bangers—setting the tone for an immersive sonic experience.
BarFest is more than just a show—it’s where pen meets performance. Whether you’re a die-hard head or a curious newcomer, this night is your passport to Jozi’s underground lyrical renaissance.
