lordkez and Kwesta Bring the Heat With “4SHO”

South African music is having another one of those moments where different generations, sounds and cultural memories collide — and lordkez is right in the middle of it.

Fresh from winning Best R&B/Soul Album at the 2026 South African Music Awards, the contemporary R&B star is keeping the momentum alive with “4SHO”, a new single featuring none other than South African hip-hop heavyweight Kwesta.

Released on 21 August 2026, the collaboration arrives at a particularly interesting point in lordkez’s rise. Rather than simply following up on a successful run, she is using the moment to expand what her sound can represent.

From “Aweh” to a New Chapter

The numbers behind lordkez’s recent success tell their own story.

Her hit “Aweh” became the most-played song across South African radio stations between September and December 2025 and has since achieved Gold certification. The “Aweh [Remix]” featuring Cassper Nyovest has gone even further, reaching Double Platinum status.

But perhaps more important is what those achievements say about the appetite for a new generation of South African R&B.

lordkez has demonstrated that emotionally driven, contemporary African R&B can connect beyond niche audiences — on radio, streaming platforms and international stages, including her acclaimed COLORS performance of “Wena Fela”.

Now, “4SHO” looks set to push that conversation forward.

When R&B Meets Hip-Hop History

Bringing Kwesta into the picture gives the track an intriguing cultural dimension.

He represents an established chapter of South African hip-hop, while lordkez embodies a newer wave of artists reshaping R&B for a global, digitally connected audience.

That makes “4SHO” more than a feature. It becomes a meeting point between generations.

The collaboration also reflects something uniquely South African: our music rarely exists in neat boxes. Hip-hop, R&B, amapiano, soul and African pop constantly borrow from one another, creating sounds that feel both familiar and completely new.

Enter: “Neo Nostalgia”

lordkez describes her musical approach as “Neo Nostalgia” — blending the warmth and familiarity of classic R&B with contemporary African sounds and modern songwriting.

It is a fitting concept for a track designed for summer.

“4SHO” taps into the feeling of hearing something that sounds instantly familiar while still belonging firmly to the present. For younger listeners navigating a culture where old-school references and new-school production constantly collide, that balance can be powerful.

Following her SAMA victory, “4SHO” also gives lordkez an opportunity to prove that recognition is not the destination. It is fuel.

The Next Sound of South African R&B?

The official music video scheduled for 26 August 2026.

If “Aweh” established lordkez as a voice worth watching, “4SHO” could become the statement that she is ready to define her own lane.

And with Kwesta alongside her, that lane suddenly feels a lot bigger.
