The 2Roads Foundation has reached a major milestone in its mission to elevate African contemporary art by officially opening its international exhibition, 2ROADS – Global Avenues: Navigating New Horizons, at Artium Gallery in Geneva, Switzerland.
The exhibition officially welcomed invited guests during its opening on Thursday, celebrating the international debut of four artists who participated in the Foundation’s inaugural Gallery on the Greens Residency. The showcase represents a significant achievement for both the artists and the Foundation’s vision of creating global opportunities for emerging African creatives.
Featured in the exhibition are Sibusiso Molwantwa, Lemé Arends, Alfred Kitsi, and Victor Eniola, whose works span photography, painting, mixed media, surrealism and digital art. Each artist developed new pieces during the six-week residency programme hosted at the 2Roads Retreat along the Vaal River in South Africa.
Originally established to provide mentorship, studio practice and professional development, the Gallery on the Greens Residency equips emerging and independent visual artists with the skills and networks needed to build sustainable careers while expanding their creative practice.
Speaking on the significance of the exhibition, 2Roads Group Chairman Kingsley Duba said the Geneva showcase reflects the Foundation’s broader commitment to increasing access and visibility for African artists on the world stage.
“This exhibition is an important milestone not only for the artists, but also for the Foundation’s broader vision of creating access, visibility and opportunity through the arts. To see work that began within a South African residency now presented in Geneva is a powerful reminder that African artists belong in global conversations and spaces.”
The exhibition at Artium Gallery serves as the international continuation of the residency programme, taking artwork created in South Africa to a global audience while reinforcing the growing influence of African contemporary art within international cultural spaces.
Among the featured artists, Johannesburg-based photographer Sibusiso Molwantwa presents contemplative works exploring spirituality, ancestral memory and contemporary South African identity through portraiture. Fellow Johannesburg artist Lemé Arends showcases paintings and mixed-media works examining colonial memory, historical landscapes and belonging.

Cape Town surrealist painter Alfred Kitsi contributes emotionally charged works that confront trauma and identity through dreamlike imagery, while Lagos-based multidisciplinary artist Victor Eniola offers a blend of digital art and painting that explores human emotion and the invisible connections between people and places, adding a distinctive West African perspective to the exhibition.
Open to the public through August 2026, 2ROADS – Global Avenues: Navigating New Horizons highlights the increasing role South African institutions can play in creating international pathways for African artists while strengthening the continent’s cultural presence abroad.
Beyond showcasing exceptional artistic talent, the exhibition demonstrates the 2Roads Foundation‘s long-term commitment to fostering opportunity through arts, entrepreneurship and education. As the nonprofit arm of the 2Roads Group, the Foundation continues to develop programmes that unlock creative potential, promote social cohesion and empower individuals to make lasting contributions within their communities.
The successful Geneva opening marks not only an important chapter for the participating artists but also a broader statement about the global reach and growing recognition of African creative excellence.
