Young Chef Rorisang Moloi Says Goodbye to The Taste Master Junior

Young Culinary Star Rorisang Moloi Bids Farewell to Taste Master Junior After Heartfelt Festive Challenge

Fifteen-year-old culinary prodigy Rorisang Moloi from Atteridgeville has exited The Taste Master Junior after a festive, feel-good challenge that pushed contestants to bake with love and generosity. Though his journey ended this week, Rorisang’s inventive spirit, bold flavour choices, and expressive approach to cooking have left a lasting impression on both viewers and judges.

A Challenge Rooted in Giving Back

In this week’s heartwarming episode, contestants were tasked with creating festive treats as special gifts for residents of a local old age home. The challenge celebrated kindness, gratitude, and the joy of giving—perfect for the holiday season.

Rorisang took a brave creative leap, presenting three different desserts:

  • A baked pastry topped with caramel
  • A delicate choux pastry filled with YUM YUM Peanut Butter mousse
  • A zesty orange curd tartlet

Despite the ambition and effort, judges Zola Nene and Fritz Schoon felt the trio didn’t fully capture the essence of a gifting challenge. The presentation, they noted, fell short—likely due to time pressure and a focus on intricate elements rather than the overall finish.

Rorisang Reflects on His Journey

Though his elimination was tough, Rorisang remains proud, optimistic, and deeply inspired by his experience on the show.

Food as Self-Expression

“Food really is an art. I learned how to express love and emotion through the dishes I create, especially for the people who matter most to me.”

Facing Feedback with Courage

Rorisang admits it was nerve-racking, but transformative:

“The judges were always honest and constructive. Their critiques helped me grow so much.”

Proud Moments Despite the Exit

His peanut butter mousse and choux pastry stand out as personal victories. He’s also eager to remake the orange curd tartlets at home.

Achievements That Shaped Him

“I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and created dishes I never thought I could make.”

Inspiration From Home

His family’s love for vegetables played a key role in his creativity:

“One of those veggie dishes even became a winning moment.”

A New Mindset for the Future

“Learning to accept criticism and use it to improve became one of my biggest strengths.”

What’s Next for Rorisang?

This is just the beginning. Rorisang hopes to create food content and continue sharpening his baking skills:

“I want to start creating content and keep improving. This is only the start.”
