A Cinematic Love Letter to Cape Town’s Outdoor Culture, Wellness, and Sustainability Movement

Cape Town, with its vibrant outdoor culture and spectacular landscapes, takes center stage in a new short film, This Is Cape Town. Set to debut at the Corona Sunsets Festival World Tour on 2nd November 2024, at the Glen Country Club in Clifton, this cinematic homage captures the city’s natural beauty, commitment to wellness, and sustainability movement. The festival promises not just music, but a full experience immersing attendees in the essence of Cape Town’s iconic outdoor lifestyle.

A Tribute to Cape Town’s Spirit and Scenic Majesty

More than just a film, This Is Cape Town serves as a heartfelt tribute to one of the world’s most picturesque cities. Through breathtaking cinematography and compelling narratives, the film dives into how Cape Town’s landscapes inspire creativity, wellness, and a profound commitment to environmental sustainability. It features three extraordinary locals:

Dr. Anesu Mbizvo, a wellness advocate and medical doctor who integrates holistic health and mindfulness practices, promoting both mental and physical well-being.

Roushanna Gray, a pioneering food innovator specializing in sustainable and indigenous culinary experiences. Gray’s focus on foraging and biodiversity-rich ingredients celebrates Cape Town’s natural heritage while promoting eco-conscious culinary practices.

Frank Solomon, a professional surfer and environmental activist dedicated to ocean conservation. His relationship with the sea underpins his advocacy for protecting marine ecosystems and increasing awareness of environmental challenges.

More Than Music: Immersive Experiences at the Festival

Roushanna Gray and Dr. Anesu Mbizvo will be among the featured participants in the festival’s “More Than Music” program, joining other creatives like renowned sculptor Daniel Popper. This series of events celebrates Cape Town’s dynamic art, wellness, and eco-conscious spirit, designed to foster an appreciation of the natural world and its preservation.

Upon arrival, festival attendees will experience Popper’s stunning new sculpture, designed to symbolize the bond between humanity and nature. The Nest, an area dedicated to wellness, will host mindfulness and yoga sessions led by Dr. Anesu Mbizvo, providing a space for rejuvenation amid the festival energy. Sound healer Nkosenathi Koela will also guide a transformative sound healing journey, blending music with meditation for a powerful inner experience.

In line with the festival’s dedication to environmental activism, participants can join in ocean conservation activities with groups like We Are Ocean and The Litterboom Project, offering tangible ways to make a difference. Meanwhile, live mural painting by the PangeaSeed Foundation will highlight marine conservation themes, bringing art and activism together.

Cape Town’s Culinary Scene Meets Sustainability

True to Cape Town’s culinary spirit, sustainably sourced food from local producers will be available, emphasizing a commitment to eco-friendly dining. The Corona Cero Bar will serve refreshments with a focus on minimizing environmental impact.

Celebrating Cape Town’s Spirit Through Art and Performance

A special Opening Ceremony will showcase a stirring performance by poet Siphokazi Jonas, bringing the energy and diversity of Cape Town to life through spoken word. This event will embody the city’s unique culture and community, setting an inspiring tone for the day’s festivities.

“This Corona Sunsets Festival World Tour embodies Cape Town’s deep connection with nature and community. Our aim is to create an event that not only entertains but also inspires a deeper appreciation for our environment, encouraging a lifestyle that values and protects our natural world.”
