JST SAKO NURTURES “XILUVA” FOR AFRICA MONTH
Straight from his debut EP, 1Five20, where he lent his voice to dramatically well-balanced records produced by himself & MattOnKeyz, Jst Sako reminds us what he has his eyes set on.
Undoubtedly one of the most mesmerising talents to grace Mzansi’s Afropop and Amapiano genres with his heart-warming voice, Sako celebrates Africa Month with the release of his traditional, soulful ballad, “Xiluva.”
“Xiluva” is a song that gives a euphoric feeling of romance through its Afro tempo accompanied by sweet melodies, percussions and groovy log drum. Sako has explored his heritage further by writing a song in his maternal language “Xitsonga” and his biggest flex is that he got the biggest musical influence in his life, his mother, Yvonne Mhlanga, to co-write the beautifully written piece with him.
“Xiluva,” (which is the Tsonga word for “Flower”) carries a strong message of reassurance that a man gives his lady in the midst of their trying times in love. It weighs in on his perspectives on enduring love, where he poetically addresses and reminds his listeners that true love conquers all.
Sako was listed as 1 of 6 African artists to look out for in 2022 by Impulse Africa Magazine and featured on Digimillenials’ playlist showcase (curated by the Founder of MOTI, Munya Chanetsa) as one of the artists to watch out for in 2022. This dreamy tune definitely supports that and solidifies that it’s about to be an interesting year for the African sensation!
