Text Me When You Get Home by Zito Mowa
Two years after his critically acclaimed debut album ‘The Kolour Of Water’ supported by the likes of Laurent Garnier, Ashley Beedle, Crazy P, Opolopo, Mouse T, Moodymanc, Intr0beatz, Simbad & many more…
Zito Mowa returns with his deeply personal sophomore album ‘Text Me When You Get Home’ releasing on South African imprint Stay True Sounds.
‘Text Me When You Get Home’ has a sound heavily influenced by the 70’s, possibly made inside a basement or a record store full of drum machines and dirty records.
Known for his chunky beats and old vinyl textures, Zito Mowa is one of the few South African producers who create MPC-heavy house music that spread like wildfire in Europe between 2013 and 2015.
OKAY GOD (Zito’s singer, songwriting alias) makes an appearance on 2 tracks showcasing just how many talents the young Mowa has up his sleeve.
“I’m aware that the kind of music I make is not for every dancefloor or for commercial radio, it’s for your living room, or a braai (South African word for barbecue) with your friends with the sound of children’s laughter in the background, I create nostalgia through my music”
