It’s officially September and while it may not feel very ‘springy’, the start of a new month does mean a new line-up of fresh beats and deep-dive conversations courtesy of PUMA South Africa’s Select Sessions #StayHome Edition and Select Stories Podcast with host Frypan Mfula.

Beamed directly to your screens and exclusive to @pumasouthafrica’s IGTV, this month’s local talent includes Ryan Murgatroyd, Helen Herimbi, SGVO, DJ Buhle and Killer Kau. Here’s the line-up low-down:

Thursday, 3 September at 6pm: Select Sessions with Ryan Murgatroyd

A modern house music king, Ryan Murgatroyd has spent his life immersed in electronic music. In 2004 he rose to global prominence with his first release: Funk Country. Notable other releases include ‘Bantwanas Piano’ on Simon Dunmore’s Defected Records and his Ikalimba EP with Berlin powerhouse Get Physical Music. Having recently confirmed his debut appearance at Fusion Festival alongside Artbat and Marcus Meinhardt, Ryan will soon be returning to Europe to unleash an arsenal of original music and a captivating live performance.

Friday, 4 September at 10am: Select Stories with Helen Herimbi

Helen Herimbi​ is a music journalist who has sat down with everyone from Babyface and Babes Wodumo to Mr Eazi and Ms Cosmo. Writer and content producer, she founded and currently produces and hosts ​i(m)bali LIVE​ – an interview series with videos that amass well over 68 000 views. When she’s not writing or talking about music, Helen is the stream queen of curating fire-flame emoji playlists which have been commissioned from near and far.

Thursday, 10 September at 6pm: Select Sessions with SGVO

SGVO, a fledgling South African producer in the early throws of his Deep House career, sounding like he’s a total veteran. SGVO has just released the first single off his second full length album called NVMBERS which features the likes of Kususa, Cuebur, Da Capo, Dwson and SIO.

Thursday, 17 September at 6pm: Select Sessions with DJ Buhle

DJ Buhle hasn’t looked back since she started playing with the BFR Crew in 2004. Her musical journey, style and interpretation continues to make revelers take to the dance floor in numbers. She is versatile and can curate sets that comprise of deep house, broken beats, soul and house. Her skills and music selection tell a story as she takes people on a musical journey.

Thursday, 24 September at 10am: Select Sessions with Killer Kau

Killer Kau (aka Sakhile Hlatshwayo) is South Africa’s dance music dominator. With great vocals, dance moves and a loveable personality – he is a unique talent and total triple threat. A natural performer, Killer Kau released his debut EP, AFTER SCHOOL, in May 2020 and a 5-track collaboration EP with 9-year-old dance enthusiast Retha titled ‘Tom and Jerry’ in June 2020.
