3 December @ 8:00 am – 6 December @ 8:00 pm
The golf is getting a makeover, but the bigger story is what happens when the final putt drops.
The 2026 Nedbank Golf Challenge in honour of Gary Player is returning to Sun City from 3–6 December with a radically transformed Gary Player Country Club, a heavyweight international field and a tournament-week experience designed to blur the line between elite sport, entertainment and destination culture.
For a younger, experience-driven audience, that shift is significant. This is no longer simply a weekend of watching golf. It is becoming a reason to travel, stay longer and experience Sun City as a complete entertainment destination.

A New Course, A New Challenge
At the heart of the transformation is a completely redesigned opening hole.
The new 470-metre par-four 1st hole climbs higher up the mountainside, creating one of the most dramatic changes in the tournament’s 44-year history. The former first hole will instead become the Gary Player Country Club’s first dedicated practice range.
The upgrades don’t stop there. New professional tees, refurbished bunkers, an enlarged dam on the second hole and a newly opened waterfall view from the ninth are intended to challenge the world’s best while preserving the personality of one of South Africa‘s most recognisable golf courses.
Essentially, the tournament has refreshed its stage without losing its identity.

Global Stars Meet South African Ambition
The opening player announcement brings serious international credibility.
Two major champions, Justin Rose and Bryson DeChambeau, headline the first confirmed names alongside South Africa’s Casey Jarvis, defending champion Kristoffer Reitan and Marco Penge.
Rose returns to Sun City after finishing runner-up in 2007, while Jarvis arrives after securing back-to-back DP World Tour victories this season.
For South African golf fans, Jarvis’ inclusion adds a particularly exciting layer. His presence places local talent directly alongside some of the biggest names in global golf.
And with more players still to be announced, the field could become even more compelling.
When the Golf Finishes, The Night Begins
Perhaps the biggest lifestyle shift comes after the golf.
Sun City is expanding the tournament programme with four nights of entertainment, dining and resort experiences, turning the Nedbank Golf Challenge into something closer to a destination festival.

The entertainment programme includes a +LIVE+ Concert at the Superbowl on Saturday, 5 December, followed by The Final Putt! featuring Scorpion Kings and DJ Shimza at Sun Park on Sunday, 6 December.

That combination speaks directly to South Africa‘s social culture: sport during the day, music and nightlife after dark.
It also makes the event more accessible to people who may not consider themselves hardcore golf fans.

More Than Four Days of Golf
The real evolution of “Africa’s Major” is its understanding that modern audiences don’t simply buy tickets to events — they buy experiences.
With general admission, grandstand seating, the practice range, Hospitality Village and resort entertainment all forming part of the wider offering, Sun City is positioning tournament week as a full December getaway.
The golf remains the anchor. But the lifestyle around it could become just as important.
Tickets and hospitality packages are on sale from 18 August, with the 2026 Nedbank Golf Challenge promising a distinctly South African mix of sporting prestige, international stars, music, nightlife and Sun City spectacle.
Come for the golf. Stay for everything else.
