For the first time ever, Cape wine enthusiasts will have the opportunity to taste all the finalists of the Diners Club Winemaker of the Year awards in one venue. On Saturday, 25 October 2025, Cavendish Square will transform its centre court into a vibrant tasting arena, celebrating the artistry and excellence of South African winemaking.

A Rare Opportunity to Sample the Best

Now in its 45th year, the Diners Club Winemaker of the Year competition remains one of South Africa’s most respected wine accolades, honouring the country’s finest vintners. Hosted by Wine Tonight, Cavendish, this special tasting event invites the public to discover, sip, and savour wines from every finalist — a true feast for the senses.

Shoppers can purchase a glass for R50, which grants them access to sample the exceptional range on offer and even purchase their favourite bottles directly from the Wine Tonight shop. There’s no need to pre-book — simply arrive between 11am and 2pm to join in. Payments can be made via credit or debit card or SnapScan (no cash accepted), and the venue is wheelchair accessible, ensuring everyone can share in the experience.

Supporting Aspiring Winemakers

The event also reinforces Diners Club’s ongoing dedication to the Dine for Change initiative — a programme that raises funds to help underprivileged aspiring winemakers pursue their studies and grow within the industry. While the winners of the 2025 awards will be announced at a gala dinner at Arabella Golf Estate later in November, this prelude offers a meaningful way to connect with South Africa’s emerging and established wine talent.
