Wine Forty Four Returns with The Spring Edition – A Fresh Take on South African Wine
New season. New energy. Wine Forty Four is back with The Spring Edition on Saturday, 20 September 2025 at 44 Stanley, Johannesburg, promising a celebration of innovation, freshness, and the future of South African wine.
Following the success of the Women’s Edition in August 2024 and the Slow Edition in April, this edition focuses on newness — from fresh vintages and innovative styles to winemakers exploring exciting directions. Expect skin-contact whites, minimal intervention reds, and seasonal interpretations of familiar varieties — wines that challenge convention while staying true to their origins.
Curated by Vinosity, The Spring Edition champions small-batch, thoughtful producers, many operating outside the mainstream yet helping shape the next era of South African wine.
Special Experiences at The Bioscope
The event features two unique wine-and-film experiences at The Bioscope, 44 Stanley’s independent cinema:
- Special Screening: Blind Ambition
Follow the journey of four Zimbabwean sommeliers competing at the World Wine Blind Tasting Championships. Tinashe Nyamudoka of Kumusha Wines, one of the film’s central figures, will introduce the screening with personal reflections. - Private Tasting with Lalela & New Dawn Wines
Led by Wade Sander (Lalela, Brunia) and Rüdger van Wyk (New Dawn Wine Company), this guided tasting explores their wines, journeys, and perspectives on the wine industry. This ticketed session includes a curated snack box, access to the full event, a 44 Stanley tote bag, and two bottles of wine to take home. Group bookings are available for 10–45 people.
