Yumbs Plants the Seed with Imbewu
Celebrated producer and DJ Yumbs has officially planted the seed of his musical legacy with the release of his highly anticipated EP, Imbewu — meaning “The Seed” in isiZulu. This project marks a new chapter in Yumbs’ artistic journey, reflecting growth, grounding, and the evolution of his signature sound.
Soulful, spiritual, and anchored in the refined rhythm of “private school” Amapiano, Imbewu is a deeply personal collection that captures stages of creative and personal growth. Each track embodies Yumbs’ journey from self-discovery to collaboration, forming a sonic garden rich in lessons and lived experiences.

The EP features a lineup of acclaimed collaborators who bring depth and texture to the project. Kailey Botman and Zwayetoven, reunited from the breakout hit “Izimangaliso,” contribute their unique chemistry, while Nkosazana Daughter adds ethereal vocals, and producer Stixx enhances the soulful elegance of the project. A standout track, “You Try” featuring Simmy, has already gone viral on TikTok, inspiring over 60,000 user-generated videos in just one week and climbing national radio charts. Fans can look forward to a visualiser that offers an intimate glimpse into the heart of this track.
Beyond the music, Yumbs extends the EP’s message with a short documentary filmed in his childhood home in Kagiso. The film connects his roots to his blossoming artistry, reinforcing the idea that everything meaningful starts small, nurtured with patience and intention.
With Imbewu, Yumbs solidifies his place in Amapiano’s ever-growing legacy, proving that creativity and purpose, when intertwined, yield something timeless.
Imbewu (The Seed) is available on all major streaming platforms.
