Khoi Tech Champions African Tech Sovereignty at GovTech 2025
Khoi Tech Demonstrates Homegrown Innovation at GovTech 2025, Driving Africa’s Data and Technology Sovereignty
At this year’s GovTech 2025 Conference hosted at the Durban ICC, South Africa’s Department of Communications and Digital Technologies (DCDT), Department of Science and Innovation (DSI), and Department of Telecommunications and Digital Technologies (DTDT) posed a critical question: How can Africa achieve true data and technology sovereignty?
For many delegates, the answer was on display at the stand of Khoi Tech, a 100% black-owned technology company based in Soweto. Over three days, Khoi Tech not only showcased its products but positioned itself as a tangible blueprint for a self-reliant African digital future.

A Hub of Innovation at GovTech 2025
Khoi Tech’s stand attracted strong attention from government ministers, senior officials, municipal leaders, and private sector executives. Among the highlights were the Afriwatch1 smartwatch, Afripods1 wireless earphones, and most notably, the Khoi Corporate Solutions platform – a health-tech SaaS solution built in Africa, for Africa.
More than consumer devices, Khoi Tech presented end-to-end digital ecosystems designed to protect sensitive data, promote workforce wellness, and enable secure healthcare delivery – all while ensuring control remains firmly within Africa’s borders.
Answering the Call for Sovereignty
“The urgent call for data and technology sovereignty from our national departments is not just policy; it’s a mandate for action.
said Seati Moloi, CEO of Khoi Tech
True sovereignty means having control over our data, our technology stacks, and our innovative capacity. With solutions like our Khoi Health SaaS Platform, we ensure that sensitive health data for government and corporate wellness programmes resides on sovereign soil, directly supporting the strategic objectives of our national ministries.”
Real Solutions for South Africa’s Needs
Khoi Tech’s innovations address pressing national and industry priorities:
- Government & Municipalities: Digital employee wellness programmes and driver health monitoring for safer public fleet operations.
- Private Sector: Customisable corporate wellness packages and performance analytics for sports teams.
- Healthcare: Secure, locally-managed doctor-to-patient remote monitoring tools to strengthen South Africa’s healthcare system.
Momentum Beyond the Conference
The positive reception at GovTech 2025 has positioned Khoi Tech as a key player in advancing Africa’s digital sovereignty goals. Engagements initiated during the event are expected to evolve into pilot programmes and strategic partnerships with government and corporate stakeholders.

Khoi Tech’s presence was more than a showcase of innovation—it was a direct response to Africa’s sovereignty challenge, proving how local enterprise can lead the continent toward technological independence and resilience.
