Samsung A14 Review

The Samsung Galaxy A14 5G, it may not be the most impressive Samsung phone around but can still provide you a decent smartphone experience.

The Galaxy A14 5G, isn’t a huge update over the A13 5G, but you can get the same cameras on the back and the same battery capacity to the cipset.

The screen display is slightly larger and has been upgraded as you get a higher resolution and this time around the Galaxy A14 brings a design that is similar to this year’s models. It is made of plastic though rather than more premium materials the flat back panel has an interesting vinyl like texture to it. With a slightly rounded frame the phone feels grippy enough and quite solid. With a new 6.6 inch display with a BP resolution and 90 hertz refresh rate. The A14 screen is much sharper than last year’s model and decent contrast.

The 90 hertz refresh rate makes your movements and swiping on the screen smoother and to save energy for brightness, a maximum of 520 minutes.

The Galaxy A14 has a headphone jack and a single bottom firing speaker. The speakers loudness and sound quality is good.

You can wake up and unlock the phone with the side mounted fingerprint reader built into the power.

The Galaxy A14 can come at 64 GB or 128 GB of storage and this is expandable beyond that through micro SD.

The interface of the Galaxy A14 is similar to what you’d get on the new high end Samsung phones but would trim down features, for example you don’t get the Bixby assistant or Samsung Pay otherwise you get a pretty familiar Samsung.

Photos from the main camera are very good for the class. Detail is excellent and also the contrast and dynamic range.

In low light the main camera produces shots with good detail and mostly accurate colors. Highlights can be blown out, while shadows are decently well developed, they contain plenty of noise.

Turning on the night mode makes a big difference when it comes to dynamic range. The highlights and light sources are restored, shadows do look a bit darker, the detail also gets heavy sharpening and each night mode takes around 6 seconds to capture.

For selfies, the 13 mega pixel front facing camera is an upgrade from the 5 mega pixel from last year’s model. Selfies come out good with plenty of detail and sharpness with accurate colors and very good dynamic range. There is some noise but it’s not a big issue.

The Galaxy A14 can capture videos with the main camera at 30 FPS. The detail is nice, for this resolution, colors are saturated and the dynamic range is okay.

The Samsung Galaxy A14 5G, is a good budget phone, its pretty decent and you get good battery life with the Samsung software package.
