It fosters a sense of belonging\, grounding us in time and place\, and helps us understand where we come from and who we are. Heritage informs identity.” \nFestival Director Heidi Erdmann explains that the theme emerged naturally:\n\n\n\nThe festival programme includes dynamic exhibitions\, talks\, and workshops\, with a strong emphasis on engaging younger generations through educational initiatives. \n\n\n\nReviving Cape Town’s Photography Scene \n\n\n\nCape Town has a rich history with photography festivals\, having hosted the Month of Photography from the late 1990s to 2014. Erdmann has participated in every edition since 1999 and says the idea to relaunch gained momentum after her visit to Barcelona’s Panoràmic Festival in 2023. Turning 60 in September 2025 became her personal catalyst. \n\n\n\nSince 2014\, the photographic landscape in South Africa has evolved\, with more diverse practitioners and audiences.
