SUMMARY:Made in India Market Brings Bold Flavours to Clearwater
DESCRIPTION:Why Johannesburg’s love for cultural markets keeps growing \n\n\n\nFood has a way of bringing people together\, but the best markets do far more than fill empty stomachs. They create spaces where culture\, creativity and community collide. \n\n\n\nThat’s exactly what Clearwater Mall is aiming to deliver as its Made in India Market returns for a third edition from 8 to 23 August. More than just another shopping event\, the market reflects a growing appetite among South Africans for experiences that celebrate global cultures while creating memorable local moments. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWinter weekends don’t have to revolve around the usual restaurant booking. Instead\, visitors can spend an evening wandering through colourful fashion stalls\, discovering handcrafted accessories\, enjoying authentic Indian street food and soaking up an atmosphere inspired by one of the world’s richest cultural traditions. \n\n\n\nMore than shopping—it’s an experience \n\n\n\nThe popularity of pop-up cultural markets has exploded across Gauteng in recent years\, with shoppers increasingly choosing experiences over traditional retail therapy. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Made in India Market taps directly into that trend by combining shopping with food\, entertainment and interactive experiences. Visitors can browse clothing\, footwear and jewellery\, have intricate henna designs applied\, and explore a variety of vendors serving freshly prepared Indian cuisine. \n\n\n\nBetter yet\, food lovers who simply want to grab a meal won’t need to pay the R10 market entry fee\, making it an accessible dinner option for anyone craving authentic flavours after work or during a weekend outing. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA social space for every generation \n\n\n\nShopping malls are evolving beyond retail destinations. They’re becoming community spaces where friends reconnect\, families spend quality time together and couples discover something different for date night. \n\n\n\nWith trading hours running daily from 10am until 8pm\, Clearwater Mall is positioning the market as an easy evening escape during Johannesburg’s chilly winter season. \n\n\n\nWhether you’re introducing someone to Indian cuisine for the first time or searching for handcrafted fashion pieces that stand out from mainstream retail\, the market offers something that feels personal rather than mass-produced. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCelebrating culture through food and fashion \n\n\n\nSouth Africa‘s diversity has always been one of its greatest strengths\, and events like the Made in India Market highlight how cultural exchange continues to shape urban life. \n\n\n\nFrom the aroma of sizzling street food to vibrant textiles and artisan jewellery\, every stall offers visitors a glimpse into traditions that have influenced South African communities for generations. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRather than simply showcasing products\, the market invites visitors to engage with a culture through its flavours\, craftsmanship and creativity. \n\n\n\nRunning from 8 to 23 August in the Upper Mall Level Parking Area\, the Made in India Market promises another opportunity for Johannesburg residents to explore\, connect and celebrate diversity—all without leaving the city.

SUMMARY:Celeste Ntuli's Biggest Laugh-Out Returns
DESCRIPTION:When Laughter Becomes a Cultural Celebration \n\n\n\nSouth Africa has never been short of stories. What makes us unique is how we tell them—and few people capture the country’s humour\, resilience and everyday realities quite like Celeste Ntuli. \n\n\n\nThis Saturday\, 8 August\, Celeste & Da Big Dudes returns to Emperors Palace for what promises to be its biggest edition yet. But this isn’t simply another comedy show. It’s a celebration of South African identity told through laughter\, shared experiences and the voices that continue to shape local entertainment. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMore Than Comedy\, It’s Community \n\n\n\nComedy has become one of the country’s most powerful forms of storytelling. Whether it’s navigating family dynamics\, township culture\, dating\, politics or everyday life\, South African comedians have mastered the art of finding humour in experiences that unite audiences across different backgrounds. \n\n\n\nThat’s exactly why Celeste & Da Big Dudes has evolved into one of the country’s standout entertainment events. Every year\, it brings together some of the sharpest comedic minds under one roof\, creating a space where audiences don’t just laugh—they recognise themselves in the stories being told. \n\n\n\nThis year’s line-up is stacked with talent\, featuring Kagiso KG Mogadi\, Dillan Oliphant\, Summary\, Mdu Ntuli\, Tumi Stopnonsons\, Sandile Makhanya and Q Dube\, while Celeste Ntuli once again leads the evening as both host and headline attraction. \n\n\n\nAdding another layer to the experience\, Kamo Kaofela will curate the night’s music\, blending live entertainment with comedy to create a vibrant cultural event rather than a traditional stand-up show. \n\n\n\nA Women’s Month Headliner With Lasting Impact \n\n\n\nThe timing couldn’t be more fitting. \n\n\n\nTaking place during Women’s Month\, the event celebrates the influence of women who continue breaking barriers across South Africa‘s entertainment industry. \n\n\n\nCeleste Ntuli has spent years redefining what success looks like for female comedians. In a space once dominated by men\, she has built a platform that not only showcases her own talent but consistently opens doors for fellow performers and keeps local comedy thriving. \n\n\n\nHer influence stretches beyond sold-out venues. She represents a generation of creatives proving that authentic South African stories deserve the biggest stages. \n\n\n\nWhy This Show Matters Now \n\n\n\nIn an era where international content dominates streaming platforms and social media feeds\, local comedy remains one of the strongest reminders that our own stories are just as entertaining. \n\n\n\nEvents like Celeste & Da Big Dudes reinforce the value of proudly South African voices. Every punchline\, observation and personal anecdote reflects the country’s diversity\, humour and resilience. \n\n\n\nFor audiences\, it’s an opportunity to disconnect from everyday pressures and reconnect through laughter—a reminder that comedy remains one of the most accessible forms of healing and celebration. \n\n\n\nAs anticipation builds ahead of Saturday night’s show\, one thing is certain: this isn’t just another date on Johannesburg’s entertainment calendar. It’s a celebration of culture\, community and the uniquely South African ability to find joy in every story. \n\n\n\nIf you’re looking for an unforgettable Women’s Month experience\, this could be the hottest ticket in town.

SUMMARY:Tyla Brings the A*POP Era Home to Johannesburg
DESCRIPTION:Tyla has spent the past few years taking South African sound to some of the biggest stages in the world. Now\, with APOP* firmly in the global conversation\, the Johannesburg-born superstar is bringing the celebration back home. \n\n\n\nOn Sunday\, 16 August 2026\, Gold Reef City will host the A*POP Takeover\, presented in partnership with South African Tourism and powered by Absa. \n\n\n\nBut this is more than another celebrity appearance. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrom Johannesburg to the World \n\n\n\nFor a generation of young South Africans watching African artists break through internationally\, Tyla’s journey represents something bigger: proof that global ambition does not require abandoning where you come from. \n\n\n\nHer latest album\, APOP*\, released on 24 July\, pushes her signature Popiano sound further into global pop territory\, blending pop\, R&B\, amapiano-inspired rhythms\, house and distinctly South African influences. \n\n\n\nThe 14-track project also reflects the increasingly borderless nature of African creativity\, bringing South African names including MaWhoo\, Babalwa M and Liquideep into the project alongside international collaborator Zara Larsson. \n\n\n\nThe result is music that can move between Johannesburg and the rest of the world without losing its identity. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Tygers Get Their Moment \n\n\n\nPerhaps the most meaningful part of the homecoming is who the celebration is really for: the fans. \n\n\n\nKnown as the Tygers\, Tyla’s supporters have followed the journey from local breakthrough to international superstardom. The A*POP Takeover gives them an opportunity to become part of the story rather than simply watch it unfold. \n\n\n\nFans can create TikTok videos using any song from APOP* for a chance to win tickets to the Gold Reef City Fan Appreciation Day. \n\n\n\nIt is a smart reflection of how today’s music culture works. Fans are no longer passive audiences. They remix\, dance\, create trends\, build communities and help songs travel across borders. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBringing the Celebration Closer \n\n\n\nSouth African Tourism will also provide transport for fans from different parts of Gauteng\, opening the experience to young people who might otherwise struggle to get to the event. \n\n\n\nThat detail matters. \n\n\n\nTyla’s homecoming is being positioned not only as entertainment\, but as an opportunity to inspire young South Africans to see their own creativity as something capable of travelling far beyond the country’s borders. \n\n\n\nHer own numbers tell the story. APOP* reached No. 1 on Billboard’s World Albums chart\, while Tyla has continued to build on her historic run across international charts and two GRAMMY wins for Best African Music Performance. \n\n\n\nYet her message remains rooted in home. \n\n\n\n\n“Whenever I’m home\, I feel like myself again\,”. \nTyla says\n\n\n\nWhen the World Looks Back at Johannesburg \n\n\n\nTyla’s rise has made South African musical identity part of a much bigger global conversation. \n\n\n\nOn 16 August\, Gold Reef City becomes the meeting point between that global success and the city that helped shape it. \n\n\n\nAPOP* might be travelling the world\, but for one day\, Johannesburg gets the homecoming. \n\n\n\nAnd for the young creatives watching\, the message is clear: your sound\, your story and your roots can belong on the biggest stage in the world.

SUMMARY:Clearwater Mall Race Targets 3\,500 Runners
DESCRIPTION:The West Rand is getting ready to lace up again. On Saturday\, 22 August 2026\, Clearwater Mall will become the starting point for thousands of runners as its annual road race returns for its 12th edition. \n\n\n\nBut this isn’t simply another event on Gauteng’s busy running calendar. The race has grown into a community fixture — one where serious athletes\, weekend runners and families can all share the same starting line. \n\n\n\nThis year\, organisers are aiming higher: 3\,500 runners. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLast year’s race attracted 2\,863 entries\, setting the stage for what could be the biggest edition yet. \n\n\n\nThree Distances\, One Starting Line \n\n\n\nThe event continues its partnership with Panorama Running Club and offers three distances designed to bring different parts of the running community together. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe 21km half marathon and 10km race are geared towards more experienced runners\, while the 5km fun run takes a more accessible approach\, welcoming families and children from the age of five when accompanied by an adult. \n\n\n\nThat mix is important. \n\n\n\nRunning culture in South Africa isn’t only about chasing personal bests. It’s also about community\, routine and finding reasons to get active together. The 5km gives younger participants and casual runners an opportunity to experience the atmosphere without needing to be seasoned athletes. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe 21km and 10km races start at 7am\, followed by the 5km at 7.15am. \n\n\n\nMore Than Just a Medal \n\n\n\nEvery finisher receives a medal\, but competitive runners have plenty more to chase. \n\n\n\nPrize money is available across age categories for the 21km and 10km\, while the 5km also rewards its top performers. \n\n\n\nThen there’s the King and Queen of the Mountain challenge. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe fastest male and female runners in the 21km and 10km races can compete for additional rewards\, including Clearwater Mall gift vouchers and course-record prizes. \n\n\n\nIt adds another layer of competition to a race that is already attracting attention for its growing field. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBuilding a Bigger Running Community \n\n\n\nThe push towards 3\,500 participants says something about the changing role of community sporting events. \n\n\n\nA mall might traditionally be associated with shopping\, entertainment and dining\, but events such as this transform the space into something different — a meeting point for movement\, local connection and shared experiences. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor young Gauteng residents especially\, that community element can be just as valuable as the finish time. \n\n\n\nWhether you’re chasing a personal best\, introducing a child to running or simply looking for a reason to get moving\, Clearwater Mall‘s 2026 race offers multiple ways to get involved. \n\n\n\nEntries close at midnight on Tuesday\, 18 August 2026\, with in-person entries also available at Entrance 5 on 20 and 21 August. \n\n\n\nThe road is waiting.

SUMMARY:Johannesburg Is Ready: Red Bull Half Court Brings South Africa’s Streetball Battle to Soweto
DESCRIPTION:The national champions will be crowned in Johannesburg\, with two teams earning the right to represent South Africa at the Red Bull Half Court World Final in Manila. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe road to Manila is officially running through Soweto. \n\n\n\nOn Saturday\, 22 August\, Red Bull Half Court South Africa brings the country’s top 3×3 streetball talent together at Klipspruit Sports Centre for a national showdown where every bucket\, possession and defensive stop could make the difference between going home and going global. \n\n\n\nFollowing three city qualifiers across South Africa\, the country’s qualifying men’s and women’s teams will battle for the national titles and two coveted places at the Red Bull Half Court World Final in Manila\, Philippines\, on 5 December 2026. \n\n\n\nSoweto Gets the Full Streetball Treatment\n\n\n\nKlipspruit Sports Centre becomes the meeting point for basketball\, music and urban culture as the National Final takes over Soweto. \n\n\n\nDoors open at 10:00\, with the event running through the day and spectators aged 18 and over invited to experience the action live. Entry is free via RSVP. \n\n\n\nBut this isn’t simply a day of basketball. The programme brings together competitive 3×3 action\, music\, shooting challenges\, a public dunk contest\, and a 1v1 side competition\, creating an environment where spectators aren’t just watching the culture; they’re part of it. And yes\, Kamo Mphela is performing live. \n\n\n\nThe Champions Are Coming for the Crown\n\n\n\nThe men’s competition has a familiar name at the top of the conversation. MBB Blue Soldiers\, the reigning 2025 national champions\, return to defend their title after representing South Africa at last year’s World Final in Dubai. They’ll have to get through a strong field if they want another shot at the global stage. Joining them are Bucket Boys\, Cape Town New Masters\, Cape Town Thunder\, Elite Pace Academy\, Fantastic 4\, LXG\, Seal Team 6\, Spartans and Tala Hady. With teams arriving from Johannesburg\, Cape Town and Durban\, this is effectively a national streetball collision\, and only one men’s team will leave with the ticket to Manila. \n\n\n\nA New Women’s Champion Is Guaranteed\n\n\n\nThe women’s competition has an immediate twist: defending champions Hoop Hustlers are not in this year’s field. That means Johannesburg will crown a completely new women’s champion. The contenders include Blue Flames\, Buckets & Bruises\, Ghiv Us\, Size Nenye and The Takeover\, representing Cape Town\, Durban and Johannesburg. For these teams\, the opportunity is bigger than a national title. Win in Soweto\, and Manila becomes the next destination. \n\n\n\nEvery Possession Counts\n\n\n\nRed Bull Half Court is built around pressure. Games are played three-on-three on a half-court\, with matches running for 10 minutes or until a team reaches 21 points\, whichever happens first. \n\n\n\nBut here’s where things get interesting. The competition’s “Own the Court” bonus can give an additional team in each group a route into the next round based on the highest number of points scored across its games\, regardless of whether those games were wins or losses. \n\n\n\nTranslation? You don’t stop fighting because you’re behind. Every basket matters. Every possession can shift the standings. And even a game that looks lost can still influence who advances. That’s the kind of format that keeps the pressure on from the first whistle to the final buzzer. \n\n\n\nMore Than Basketball\n\n\n\nThe National Final is designed as a full streetball experience\, with several opportunities for fans to get involved. Kamo Mphela Live will bring the music and energy\, while Red Bull Run The Racks with Lethal Shooter challenges spectators to test their shooting ability. There’s also an open dunk contest\, allowing players and spectators to step onto the court and throw down. And for players whose teams don’t make the knockout rounds\, a 1v1 side competition keeps the competitive energy alive. \n\n\n\nSo whether you’re there for the basketball\, the music\, the competition or simply the atmosphere\, there is plenty happening around the court. \n\n\n\nThe Road to Manila\n\n\n\nAt the end of the day\, however\, two teams will matter most. The men’s and women’s champions crowned in Soweto on 22 August will earn the right to represent South Africa at the Red Bull Half Court World Final in Manila on 5 December\, where they’ll face national champions from around the world. Johannesburg is therefore more than the location of the final. It’s the launchpad. \n\n\n\nRed Bull Half Court South Africa National Final \n\n\n\nEntry: Free\, RSVP requiredAge: 18+World Final: Manila\, Philippines\, 5 December 2026 \n\n\n\nJohannesburg gets the final word. Two champions get Manila.

SUMMARY:GO BOS OR GO HOME: BOS ICE TEA TURNS ROSEBANK INTO JOBURG’S NEW CREATIVE PLAYGROUND
DESCRIPTION:Johannesburg is not a city that waits for permission. It creates\, hustles\, connects\, experiments\, celebrates\, and somehow turns an ordinary Saturday into a story worth telling. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis weekend\, BOS Ice Tea is tapping directly into that energy with the arrival of the BOS Studio\, a colourful\, immersive creative pop-up transforming Rosebank into a space where Joburgers can forget the rules and simply go BOS. \n\n\n\nRunning from 28 – 30 August\, the BOS Studio is less a traditional art space and more of a creative playground. Think music\, paint\, blank walls\, colour\, good energy\, and absolutely no pressure to be the next Picasso. \n\n\n\nYou don’t need to call yourself an artist. You don’t need a portfolio. You don’t even need to know what you’re going to create. You just need to show up. \n\n\n\nThis is Joburg creativity without the pressure\n\n\n\nJohannesburg has always had its own creative rhythm. From fashion and music to street culture\, design\, food\, photography\, and entrepreneurship\, the city is constantly turning ideas into experiences. The BOS Studio is designed to give that creativity somewhere to breathe. \n\n\n\n\n“There’s an incredible creative energy in Joburg\, but between the daily grind we don’t always get the space to use it\,” \nsays William Battersby\, CEO of BOS Ice Tea.\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“We wanted the BOS Studio to provide an unexpected opportunity to share your creativity. A place to switch off\, pick up a brush\, and create without overthinking.” \n\n\n\n\nAnd that’s probably the point. In a city where everyone is constantly working on the next thing\, the BOS Studio is an invitation to do something for no reason other than because you feel like it. \n\n\n\nNo workshop. No rulebook. Just BOS.\n\n\n\nForget the intimidating art-gallery energy. There are no formal classes. No step-by-step instructions. No pressure to create something Instagram-perfect. Instead\, visitors can walk in\, grab a brush\, pick up some paint\, and add their own energy to the space. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYou might arrive with a fully formed idea. You might spend five minutes staring at a blank wall before putting down one giant yellow stroke. Both are completely acceptable. And if your last serious artistic moment happened somewhere around Grade 3 finger painting\, you’re still invited. Because the BOS Studio isn’t really about creating the “perfect” artwork. It’s about participating. \n\n\n\nOne giant creative portrait of Johannesburg\n\n\n\nThe most exciting part is that nobody knows exactly what the final artwork will look like. Across the three-day experience\, individual marks\, colours\, shapes and spontaneous creations will gradually come together to form one evolving collective portrait of Johannesburg. In other words\, the city gets to paint itself. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvery visitor becomes part of the final piece\, from professional creatives and designers to students\, entrepreneurs\, music lovers\, weekend explorers\, and anyone who simply wants to do something different. That’s where the BOS lifestyle comes into play. BOS isn’t positioning iced tea as something you simply pull out of the fridge when you’re thirsty. It’s becoming part of a broader attitude: be curious\, be creative\, get involved\, don’t take everything so seriously\, now and then\, go BOS. \n\n\n\nWhere to find the BOS Studio\n\n\n\nThe BOS Studio will be open from: \n\n\n\n28 – 30 August 202609:00 – 17:00 dailyRosebank\, JohannesburgBetween Rosebank Mall and The Zone\, directly outside the mall’s Woolworths entrance. \n\n\n\nLook for the bright yellow. Entry is free\, and everyone is welcome. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSo whether you’re looking for something different to do this weekend\, you’re deep in your creative era\, you’re a Joburg culture junkie\, or you’re simply curious about what happens when you give an entire city permission to make a mess go find the yellow room. Bring your friends. Bring your ideas. Bring your camera. And most importantly\, don’t overthink it. \n\n\n\nGo BOS or go home. \n\n\n\nThis isn’t just another brand activation. It’s a weekend experience built around the same things that make Joburg exciting: creativity\, culture\, community\, lifestyle\, and self-expression. And that’s exactly where BOS Ice Tea can live: not just in the fridge\, but in the moments\, places\, and experiences that make a lifestyle feel like yours.

SUMMARY:BMW Art Generation Turns Joburg Into a Cultural Hub
DESCRIPTION:BMW Art Generation Vol. IV\, contemporary African art Johannesburg\, FNB Art Joburg 2026\, BMW Art Haus\, African artists South Africa\, Joburg art events 2026\, indigenous knowledge art\, Johannesburg cultural events \n\n\n\nJohannesburg is about to become a meeting point for art\, ideas\, music and the questions that shape how we understand ourselves. \n\n\n\nFrom 29 August\, The BMW Art Generation Vol. IV will take over The BMW Art Haus in Parktown North\, while connecting with the MAX section of FNB Art Joburg’s 19th edition. Rather than functioning as a traditional exhibition confined to one room\, this year’s edition asks audiences to move through the city — and through different ways of thinking. \n\n\n\nAt the centre is a question that feels particularly relevant in a rapidly changing Africa: From Whose Waters Do We Drink? \n\n\n\nWho Gets To Define What We Know? \n\n\n\nConceptualised by Kim Kandan\, the exhibition challenges audiences to think about where knowledge comes from\, who carries it and how it changes as it moves between generations. \n\n\n\nThat makes the exhibition bigger than a collection of artworks. \n\n\n\nIt becomes a conversation about memory\, identity\, place\, inheritance and the knowledge systems that continue to influence contemporary African life. \n\n\n\nImportantly\, indigenous knowledge isn’t presented as something frozen in history. Instead\, the exhibition explores how these systems remain active\, adaptable and creatively powerful in the present. \n\n\n\nFor a young South African audience navigating questions around identity\, heritage and belonging\, that conversation hits close to home. \n\n\n\nAfrican Voices Take Centre Stage \n\n\n\nThe lineup brings together an extraordinary constellation of artists from Africa and the diaspora\, including Professor Berni Searle\, Bronwyn Katz\, donna Kukama\, Dr George Mahashe\, Mmakgabo Helen Sebidi\, Kemang Wa Lehulere\, Lady Skollie\, Lebohang Kganye\, Lindokuhle Sobekwa\, Nolan Oswald Dennis\, Pamela Phatsimo Sunstrum\, Robin Rhode\, Simnikiwe Buhlungu and Yinka Shonibare. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe exhibition’s strength lies not simply in the names on the wall\, but in the opportunity for different generations\, practices and perspectives to exist alongside one another. \n\n\n\nArt Meets Music\, Food and Joburg Energy \n\n\n\nThe opening weekend is designed less like a formal gallery visit and more like a full cultural experience. \n\n\n\nVisitors can start with a guided walkabout at midday\, join conversations at 13:00 and 15:00\, browse a reading room and bookstore curated with Jonathan Ball\, and spend time over local cuisine\, Methode Cap Classique and wine. \n\n\n\nThen the gallery atmosphere shifts. \n\n\n\nFrom 16:00 to 20:00\, music takes over\, with Thando Zide headlining Saturday and Nduduzo Makhathini closing out Sunday. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIt’s a reminder that Joburg’s cultural ecosystem doesn’t exist in separate boxes. Art\, music\, food\, fashion\, conversation and community constantly overlap. \n\n\n\nKeeping The Conversation Open \n\n\n\nFollowing the opening weekend\, The BMW Art Haus will reopen from 3 to 6 September\, with free viewing giving audiences the chance to return without the pressure of a one-day experience. \n\n\n\nThat accessibility matters. Great exhibitions aren’t only about seeing something once; they’re about giving people enough space to question\, reflect and come back with a different perspective. \n\n\n\nWith BMW South Africa\, FNB Art Joburg and participating artists bringing their platforms together\, BMW Art Generation Vol. IV positions Joburg as more than a destination for contemporary art. \n\n\n\nIt becomes a space where Africa’s past\, present and future can meet — and where the next generation gets to ask an important question: whose knowledge are we carrying forward?

SUMMARY:FNB Art Joburg Turns 19 in a City of 140
DESCRIPTION:Johannesburg is turning 140 this year\, and one of its biggest celebrations of creativity is turning 19. From 4–6 September 2026\, FNB Art Joburg returns to the Sandton Convention Centre\, bringing together artists\, galleries\, collectors\, cultural producers and curious audiences for another major chapter in the city’s contemporary art story. \n\n\n\nBut this isn’t simply another date for the art calendar. \n\n\n\nFNB Art Joburg has become a reflection of Johannesburg itself: ambitious\, restless\, diverse and constantly reinventing what is possible. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA Fair That Wants You to Look Again \n\n\n\nFor young South Africans\, contemporary art can sometimes feel like an exclusive world reserved for collectors and insiders. FNB Art Joburg is pushing against that perception by creating multiple ways to enter the conversation. \n\n\n\nIts established platforms span established galleries\, experimental spaces\, photography\, publishing\, large-scale installations\, artist-run initiatives\, talks\, screenings and performances. \n\n\n\nThis year\, the fair adds ARC\, a new section dedicated to artists and works that challenge convention. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThat addition feels particularly relevant to a creative generation that refuses to fit neatly into categories. \n\n\n\nARC is positioned as a space for discovery and critical inquiry\, foregrounding practices responding to the immediacy and complexity of contemporary African life. \n\n\n\nJohannesburg Becomes the Exhibition \n\n\n\nThe most exciting part may happen beyond the convention centre. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRunning from 20 August to 14 September\, Open City\, in partnership with Brand South Africa\, turns Johannesburg itself into an extended cultural platform. \n\n\n\nArt meets music\, fashion\, design\, food and performance across the city\, creating an access bridge between the formal art fair and the creative energy happening on Johannesburg’s streets. \n\n\n\nThat matters because the city’s cultural identity has never been confined to one building. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrom independent creative spaces and galleries to fashion studios\, restaurants\, music venues and community-led initiatives\, Johannesburg’s creative economy thrives through connection. \n\n\n\nOpen City recognises that ecosystem and places the city’s cultural workers closer to the centre of the conversation. \n\n\n\nMore Than Art on a Wall \n\n\n\nFNB Art Joburg’s bigger proposition is that art can create opportunity\, spark uncomfortable conversations and help shape how Africa tells its own story. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor Johannesburg\, that message lands differently in its 140th year. \n\n\n\nThe city has always been shaped by people arriving with different histories\, ideas and ambitions and finding ways to create something new together. FNB Art Joburg taps directly into that spirit. \n\n\n\nIts 19th edition therefore arrives as more than a gathering of galleries and collectors. It is an invitation to see where African creativity is heading — and to ask who gets to shape that future. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor a city that refuses to stand still\, that feels like the right conversation to have. \n\n\n\nFNB Art Joburg 2026 takes place from 4–6 September at the Sandton Convention Centre\, while Open City runs across Johannesburg from 20 August to 14 September.

SUMMARY:Scorpion Kings Set for Historic FNB Stadium Show
DESCRIPTION:The Scorpion Kings are ready to make history once again. Following the massive success of Scorpion Kings Live [with Friends] in 2025\, the iconic duo—DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small—have officially announced Scorpion Kings Live at FNB\, set to take place on 19 September 2026 at FNB Stadium. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAfter a groundbreaking show at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in 2025\, which brought together tens of thousands of fans in celebration of Amapiano culture\, the movement is now evolving into something even bigger. That landmark event wasn’t just a concert—it was a cultural moment that fused music\, fashion\, and community\, reinforcing the Scorpion Kings’ influence as global pioneers of the genre. \n\n\n\nA Bigger Vision for 2026 \n\n\n\nIn 2026\, the vision expands dramatically. With an anticipated crowd of over 70\,000 fans\, Scorpion Kings Live at FNB is poised to become the largest Amapiano concert in the world. The event will transform the legendary venue—fondly known as “The Calabash”—into a vibrant celebration of the genre that continues to dominate dance floors worldwide. \n\n\n\nThis year’s theme\, A Family Affair\, highlights the deep-rooted sense of unity within the Amapiano movement. More than just a live show\, the event will celebrate the extended family behind the sound—from artists and collaborators to fans who have carried Amapiano across borders. \n\n\n\nThe Kings Speak \n\n\n\nReflecting on the journey so far\, DJ Maphorisa shared that the energy from last year’s event set the tone for what’s to come: \n\n\n\n\n“Loftus was a moment we’ll never forget—the energy\, the love\, the unity. It showed us just how far Amapiano has come. But for us\, that was only the beginning. FNB Stadium is about taking that feeling and amplifying it for the world to see.” \n\n\n\n\nKabza De Small echoed this vision\, emphasizing growth and connection: \n\n\n\n\n“Every Scorpion Kings Live show is about growth—not just for us\, but for the culture. ‘A Family Affair’ is exactly what this is. It’s about bringing everyone together again\, bigger than ever\, and creating something unforgettable.” \n\n\n\n\nA Cultural Landmark in the Making \n\n\n\nAs key architects of the Amapiano movement\, the Scorpion Kings continue to push creative boundaries\, redefining the live music experience. SUMMARY:Spring Fiesta Is More Than Just a Festival
DESCRIPTION:Spring Fiesta Is Still South Africa’s Biggest Reunion on the Dancefloor \n\n\n\nEvery spring brings warmer weather\, fresh energy and a packed events calendar. But for thousands of South Africans\, there’s one date that feels less like another festival and more like coming home. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOn 3 October 2026\, Spring Fiesta returns to the Wild Waters Complex in Boksburg\, once again transforming Gauteng into the country’s biggest celebration of music\, friendship and shared culture. After 15 years\, the festival has evolved into something bigger than a lineup—it’s become a tradition that reflects how South Africans celebrate life. \n\n\n\nMore Than Music\, It’s Community \n\n\n\nWhat makes Spring Fiesta different isn’t simply the artists on stage. It’s the people in front of it. \n\n\n\nFriends who only see each other once a year. Dance crews reuniting after months apart. Fashion lovers treating the festival like a runway. Music fans discovering tomorrow’s favourite DJ alongside legends who have soundtracked generations. \n\n\n\nIn an era where so much entertainment happens through a phone screen\, Spring Fiesta continues to remind people why experiencing music together still matters. \n\n\n\nA Celebration of South African Sound \n\n\n\nThis year’s first wave of artists proves that local music culture remains at the heart of the festival. \n\n\n\nThe return of the Stay True Sounds stage reinforces deep house as one of South Africa‘s most influential musical exports. Internationally respected producer Atjazz (UK) joins deep house pioneer Jullian Gomes for what promises to be one of the weekend’s standout back-to-back performances\, supported by selectors including Kid Fonque\, Dwson\, Vinny Da Vinci\, DJ Christos and many more. \n\n\n\nMeanwhile\, Soul Candi Live continues its legacy with global house favourites Fish Go Deep and Shane Johnson alongside South African icons like DJ Fresh\, Ralf Gum\, DJ Mbuso and Judy Jay. \n\n\n\nRather than chasing trends\, both stages celebrate the timeless sound that helped shape South Africa‘s dance music identity. \n\n\n\nHip Hop Takes Centre Stage \n\n\n\nSpring Fiesta isn’t only about house music anymore. \n\n\n\nThe Hip Hop Floor reflects the evolution of South African youth culture\, bringing together established names and the country’s next generation of stars. Hosted by DJ Speedsta\, audiences can expect performances from Blxckie\, Loatinover Pounds\, Frank Casino and an impressive lineup of DJs and performers who continue to redefine local hip hop. \n\n\n\nIt’s a reminder that South African music doesn’t belong to one genre—it thrives because different sounds share the same stage. \n\n\n\nThe Experience Keeps Growing \n\n\n\nWhile only three stages have been revealed\, organisers have already hinted that more artists and experiences are still to come. \n\n\n\nThat anticipation has become part of the Spring Fiesta formula. Every announcement builds excitement\, while every edition introduces something new without losing the sense of familiarity that keeps fans returning year after year. \n\n\n\nWith food\, fashion\, lifestyle activations and unforgettable performances all in one space\, Spring Fiesta remains one of the few events where music becomes the backdrop for creating memories. \n\n\n\nThis October\, it won’t simply mark the arrival of spring—it will celebrate the culture\, creativity and connection that continue to define South Africa‘s vibrant lifestyle scene.

SUMMARY:Saudi Stories Take Over Joburg This October
DESCRIPTION:Saudi Cinema Arrives in Braamfontein \n\n\n\nJohannesburg audiences are getting a chance to experience two very different sides of contemporary Saudi cinema this October\, as Saudi Film Nights heads to the Lesedi Theatre at Joburg Theatre in Braamfontein. \n\n\n\nThe Johannesburg programme kicks off on 8 October with Night Courier before continuing with Irtizaz on 9 October\, offering audiences stories that move between social pressure\, financial struggle\, family expectations and the realities of everyday life. \n\n\n\nWhen the Hustle Takes a Dark Turn \n\n\n\nNight Courier centres on Fahad\, a struggling delivery driver navigating Riyadh’s streets during the night shift. \n\n\n\nWhat begins as a familiar hustle for someone trying to make ends meet takes a darker turn when his desperation for money pulls him into a dangerous illicit world. \n\n\n\nThe film offers an intimate look at the pressures that can sit behind the gig economy — where earning a living can sometimes mean making choices with consequences far beyond the next payday. \n\n\n\nA Funeral\, Family Pressure and Social Expectations \n\n\n\nOn 9 October\, Irtizaz shifts the mood with a sharper and more playful exploration of relationships and social expectations. \n\n\n\nThe story follows a young divorcee attending a funeral\, only to find herself caught in an uncomfortable situation when her mother pushes her into a contest for approval. \n\n\n\nThrough humour and awkward social dynamics\, the film explores the expectations placed on women\, marriage and family — themes that can resonate across cultures\, even when the circumstances look very different. \n\n\n\nTogether\, Night Courier and Irtizaz give Johannesburg audiences a glimpse into the range of stories emerging from contemporary Saudi cinema\, moving beyond headlines to focus on people\, relationships and the everyday pressures that shape their lives.

SUMMARY:Back to the City Marks 20 Years of Hip-Hop
DESCRIPTION:Johannesburg is getting ready for a major hip-hop homecoming. \n\n\n\nOn Saturday\, 10 October 2026\, Back to the City International Festival returns to Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown for its 20th anniversary — bringing together artists and audiences across generations\, borders and eras of hip-hop culture. \n\n\n\nBut this year’s celebration isn’t simply about assembling a big-name line-up. It’s about looking at how far the culture has travelled while creating space for the people pushing it forward. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTwo Decades\, One City \n\n\n\nFor 20 years\, Back to the City has been part of Johannesburg’s hip-hop story\, providing a platform where established pioneers and emerging voices can occupy the same cultural space. \n\n\n\nThat history is reflected in the 2026 line-up. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrom the United States\, critically acclaimed rapper Ab-Soul\, legendary Detroit collective Slum Village\, and the acclaimed duo Blu & Exile bring international perspectives to the festival. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTheir presence adds another layer to an event that has consistently connected South African hip-hop with the wider global culture. \n\n\n\nOn the local front\, the line-up stretches across generations. Cassper Nyovest\, Emtee\, Blxckie\, Stogie T\, Reason\, Tuks\, Touchline and Trompies are among the South African names taking the stage\, alongside a wider roster of artists. \n\n\n\nIt’s a line-up that recognises that South African hip-hop isn’t one sound or one generation. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrom the Pioneers to What’s Next \n\n\n\nOne of Back to the City’s most interesting roles has always been its ability to put different chapters of the culture in the same room. \n\n\n\nThe 2026 edition continues that tradition by creating a meeting point between artists who helped establish the local movement and younger voices redefining what hip-hop can sound and look like today. \n\n\n\nFor Johannesburg’s young creative community\, that generational conversation matters. \n\n\n\nHip-hop has evolved from music into a wider cultural language — influencing fashion\, language\, visual identity\, dance\, entrepreneurship and the way young people document their realities. \n\n\n\nBack to the City is therefore also a snapshot of that evolution. \n\n\n\nJohannesburg Gets Its Moment \n\n\n\nThere’s an added layer to this year’s festival. \n\n\n\nBack to the City 2026 takes place during Johannesburg’s 140-year anniversary celebrations\, linking the festival’s 20-year history with the city’s much longer story of migration\, creativity\, resilience and urban identity. \n\n\n\nMary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown becomes the meeting point for those two timelines: 140 years of Johannesburg and 20 years of a festival built around hip-hop culture. \n\n\n\nThe result is less a retrospective and more a statement about continuation. \n\n\n\nBack to the City 2026 takes place on 10 October at Mary Fitzgerald Square\, Newtown\, Johannesburg. Tickets are available through Webtickets and Pick n Pay. \n\n\n\nThe question from the festival is fitting for its anniversary year: Are you in the City — or are you hearing about it after?

SUMMARY:Zanele Muholi Brings 20 Years of Faces Home
DESCRIPTION:There is something powerful about returning home with a story that started there. \n\n\n\nFor Zanele Muholi\, that homecoming arrives in Johannesburg this October as Sibaningi brings two decades of Faces and Phases back to the Market Photo Workshop in Newtown — the very place where the landmark portrait series began in 2006. \n\n\n\nOpening on Saturday\, 17 October 2026\, the exhibition arrives just days after Muholi receives the prestigious Hasselblad Award in Gothenburg\, Sweden. But while the international recognition is significant\, Sibaningi feels less like a victory lap and more like a return to the people and place that made the work possible. \n\n\n\nA Homecoming With History \n\n\n\nSibaningi\, an isiZulu word meaning “we are many”\, is a fitting title for an exhibition centred on visibility. \n\n\n\nFaces and Phases has spent 20 years documenting Black lesbian\, queer and trans lives across South Africa and beyond. Rather than reducing those lives to stories of discrimination or violence\, Muholi’s work has consistently insisted on something more fundamental: the right to be seen as whole human beings. \n\n\n\nThe portraits capture people living\, working\, loving\, ageing and changing. \n\n\n\nThat makes this exhibition particularly relevant in a moment when conversations around identity\, representation and belonging continue to shape South African culture. \n\n\n\nAnd there is an important full-circle moment here. Muholi studied at the Market Photo Workshop\, founded by David Goldblatt in 1989. It was within this Johannesburg creative environment that Faces and Phases began. \n\n\n\nTwenty years later\, the work returns with history behind it — and more history still being made. \n\n\n\nMore Than Photographs \n\n\n\nOne of the most compelling aspects of Sibaningi is the way it approaches the archive as something living. \n\n\n\nEarly portraits are placed alongside later images of participants\, allowing audiences to witness changes in gender expression\, relationships\, careers\, homes\, age and circumstance. \n\n\n\nThe photographs therefore become more than individual portraits. Together\, they form a visual record of lives unfolding over time. \n\n\n\nNew faces also enter the series\, reinforcing the idea that the archive is never truly finished. \n\n\n\nFor a younger generation navigating questions of identity and representation online and offline\, that idea resonates. What we document today becomes part of what future generations use to understand who we were. \n\n\n\nFrom Johannesburg to the World \n\n\n\nMuholi’s international recognition makes the Johannesburg exhibition even more significant. \n\n\n\nThe Hasselblad Award — regarded as one of photography’s most prestigious honours — comes with SEK 2 million\, a gold medal\, a Hasselblad camera and a solo exhibition at the Hasselblad Center running until April 2027. \n\n\n\nMuholi is the first Black queer African photographer to receive the award. \n\n\n\nYet Sibaningi deliberately brings that global moment back to Johannesburg. \n\n\n\nThe exhibition opens during Africa Pride month and forms part of the Muholi Art Institute‘s ongoing work around photography\, education and archives. \n\n\n\nOn opening day\, Muholi will speak at midday before the exhibition officially opens. Entry is free\, making the opportunity to experience two decades of South African visual history accessible to a broad Johannesburg audience. \n\n\n\nWe Are Many \n\n\n\nSibaningi ultimately feels like both an archive and an affirmation. \n\n\n\nTwenty years after Faces and Phases began\, the message remains clear: these lives were here\, are here and will continue to be here. \n\n\n\nBack in the city where the series started\, Muholi isn’t simply looking backwards. \n\n\n\nThey are showing Johannesburg how much has changed\, how much remains unfinished — and why documenting the present still matters. \n\n\n\nSibaningi runs from 17 October to 5 December 2026 at the Market Photo Workshop in Newtown\, Johannesburg. Entry is free.

SUMMARY:Music Meets the Wild at Cradle’s 10th Birthday
DESCRIPTION:Forget the usual festival routine of concrete\, traffic and city noise. On 17 October\, Gauteng’s music crowd is being invited to trade the urban jungle for an actual one. \n\n\n\nMusic in the Jungle is bringing some of South Africa‘s biggest sounds to the Cradle of Humankind as Cradle Boutique Hotel celebrates its 10th anniversary with a day-to-night experience built around music\, nature\, food and hospitality. \n\n\n\nAnd with Sjava\, Kabza De Small\, Focalistic\, Mörda\, Langa Mavuso\, Thatohatsi\, Thando Zide\, Khuli Chana and Lamiez Holworthy on the lineup\, the music is clearly not taking a back seat. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA Different Kind of Gauteng Gig \n\n\n\nThe interesting part isn’t simply who’s performing. It’s where the performances are happening. \n\n\n\nSet within a 9\,000-hectare nature reserve\, Music in the Jungle is designed to move away from the conventional festival environment and place the audience inside the landscape of the Cradle of Humankind. \n\n\n\nFor young Gauteng audiences accustomed to packed venues\, rooftop parties and large-scale city events\, that change of scenery could be part of the attraction. \n\n\n\nThe experience is expected to evolve throughout the day\, starting with more relaxed daytime sounds before shifting into an energetic evening celebration. \n\n\n\nIt’s essentially a day out\, music experience and escape from the city rolled into one. \n\n\n\nA Soundtrack That Moves Across Genres \n\n\n\nThe lineup reflects the increasingly fluid nature of South African music culture. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAmapiano\, hip-hop\, Afro-house\, R&B\, soul and contemporary African sounds will all feature\, creating a programme that can move between different moods rather than locking the event into one genre. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrom Kabza De Small and Focalistic’s amapiano influence to Sjava’s distinctive hip-hop and storytelling\, Mörda’s Afro-house territory and Langa Mavuso‘s soulful sound\, the bill brings together different corners of the country’s contemporary music scene. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThat diversity also gives the event a distinctly Mzansi character: different sounds\, different audiences and one shared space. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTen Years\, One Big Celebration \n\n\n\nFor Cradle Boutique Hotel\, the event marks a decade of operating in one of Gauteng’s most recognisable natural environments. \n\n\n\nGeneral Manager Wayne Fisher says the celebration was designed around the destination’s combination of music\, hospitality\, nature\, food and community. \n\n\n\nThat makes Music in the Jungle more than a birthday party. It is also an opportunity for the hotel to position the Cradle as a destination for experiences that extend beyond traditional accommodation. \n\n\n\nFor the audience\, meanwhile\, the proposition is straightforward: dress for the jungle\, bring your appetite for music and leave the city behind for a few hours. \n\n\n\nWith additional event details still to come\, Music in the Jungle is shaping up as a different proposition for Gauteng’s October entertainment calendar: less city\, more nature; less ordinary gig\, more destination experience.

SUMMARY:Mpho Popps to Host 2026 Creator Awards
DESCRIPTION:South Africa’s creator economy is no longer just about what happens on our phone screens. It is shaping conversations\, launching careers\, influencing brands and increasingly becoming a serious part of the country’s cultural economy. \n\n\n\nNow\, the people behind that influence are getting another major night in the spotlight. \n\n\n\nThe 2026 Content Creator Awards\, sponsored by Samsung\, has announced entertainment heavyweight Mpho “Popps” Modikoane as this year’s host. The awards take place on Saturday\, 17 October 2026\, at The Galleria in Sandton. \n\n\n\nWhen Creators Become Culture-Makers \n\n\n\nPopps is a fitting choice for an event celebrating digital creativity. \n\n\n\nHis career crosses comedy\, television\, podcasting and live entertainment — spaces where understanding an audience is everything. That ability to read a room could bring a distinctly energetic flavour to an awards ceremony celebrating an industry that is itself constantly changing. \n\n\n\nFor Popps\, the significance goes beyond trophies. \n\n\n\nHe sees creators as people actively driving culture\, keeping audiences entertained\, informed and inspired through their daily digital experiences. \n\n\n\nThat perspective is particularly relevant in a South African landscape where creators are increasingly building businesses around their personalities\, communities and creative ideas. \n\n\n\nA Creator Economy That Keeps Evolving \n\n\n\nThe Content Creator Awards launched in 2022 and has grown into an annual platform recognising not only individual creators\, but also the brands\, agencies and platforms contributing to the wider ecosystem. \n\n\n\nThe 2026 edition features 20 categories\, with its entry and judging criteria refined to better reflect how quickly the creator landscape is evolving. \n\n\n\nImportantly\, the judging framework has been developed with the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) South Africa\, bringing greater consistency and industry alignment to the process. \n\n\n\nThat matters because creator culture is no longer operating on a simple formula of followers and likes. Creativity\, influence\, originality\, community engagement and commercial impact are becoming increasingly interconnected. \n\n\n\nMore Than an Awards Night \n\n\n\nBehind the glamour of Sandton’s red carpet will be a bigger conversation about where South African digital culture is heading. \n\n\n\nFrom YouTube personalities and TikTok storytellers to podcasters\, visual creators and niche online communities\, the creator economy has opened new routes into entertainment and entrepreneurship. \n\n\n\nThe awards therefore represent more than recognition. They are also a snapshot of an industry finding its identity — and deciding what meaningful creative success looks like. \n\n\n\nWith Samsung Galaxy\, YouTube\, Telkom\, 947\, eVOD\, Cars.co.za and The Creator Club supporting the event\, the night also highlights how closely brands are now connected to creator-led culture. \n\n\n\nReady for the Main Event? \n\n\n\nFor young South Africans building audiences from bedrooms\, studios\, streets and smartphones\, seeing creators celebrated at this level sends an important message: digital creativity has become a legitimate cultural force. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAnd with Mpho Popps holding the microphone\, expect plenty of personality along the way. \n\n\n\nEarly-bird tickets are priced at R395 and are available through Quicket\, giving audiences the opportunity to experience one of the biggest nights on South Africa’s creator calendar.

SUMMARY:Miriam Altman Brings The Butterfly Project to Joburg
DESCRIPTION:Johannesburg’s live music scene is making space for an evening of jazz\, honest storytelling and personal transformation as vocalist\, songwriter and producer Miriam Altman brings The Butterfly Project to Wits Theatre on Sunday\, 18 October 2026. \n\n\n\nBlending contemporary vocal jazz\, soul\, poetry and African rhythmic influences\, the performance promises more than a showcase of musical talent. It invites audiences into a deeply personal journey through darkness\, resilience and renewal\, using music to explore the experiences that shape who we become. \n\n\n\nFor a city that thrives on creative expression and finding new ways to tell its stories\, this is an opportunity to experience South African jazz through an intimate\, emotionally driven lens. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA Musical Journey Through Darkness and Renewal \n\n\n\nAt the heart of The Butterfly Project is the idea of transformation. Drawing on her classical vocal foundation while embracing contemporary jazz and soul\, Altman creates a sound that brings different musical worlds together. \n\n\n\nPoetry and African rhythmic influences add further texture to the project\, giving the music room to move between reflection\, vulnerability and hope. \n\n\n\nRather than presenting transformation as a simple\, polished journey\, the project traces a more personal experience — one that acknowledges difficult moments while making space for growth. \n\n\n\nThat emotional honesty is part of what makes contemporary jazz such a compelling live experience. Beyond technical skill and musical arrangements\, it creates opportunities for audiences to connect with stories that feel recognisable\, even when they are deeply individual. \n\n\n\nAn Ensemble Rooted in South African Talent\n\n\n\nAltman co-produced the album with award-winning pianist and producer Luyanda Madope\, bringing together an accomplished ensemble of South African jazz musicians. \n\n\n\nThe project features Tlale Makhene\, Tendai Shoko\, Dalisu Ndlazi\, Sunnyboy Mthimune\, Lungile Kunene and Kuki Mokubetsi\, whose collective experience contributes to the album’s musical depth. \n\n\n\nThe live performance will bring these creative elements into a shared space\, allowing audiences to experience the interplay between vocals\, instrumentation\, rhythm and storytelling. \n\n\n\nFor Johannesburg’s music lovers\, the concert also offers a chance to engage with the country’s jazz community and its continuing contribution to a diverse local music landscape. \n\n\n\nWhat to Expect at Wits Theatre\n\n\n\nThe Johannesburg concert is positioned as an intimate and uplifting celebration of The Butterfly Project album\, combining contemporary jazz with powerful storytelling and musical expression. \n\n\n\nWhether you’re a dedicated jazz listener or someone looking to discover a different side of Johannesburg’s live entertainment scene\, the performance offers an opportunity to experience music that prioritises feeling\, connection and artistic expression. \n\n\n\nAs Johannesburg continues to make room for diverse creative voices\, The Butterfly Project offers an invitation to slow down\, listen closely and experience the transformative power of music — one note and one story at a time.

SUMMARY:Politically Aweh Turns Election Chaos Into Comedy
DESCRIPTION:Politics can feel exhausting. Between campaign promises\, rising living costs\, political debates and the never-ending stream of WhatsApp opinions\, keeping up with what is actually happening can sometimes feel like a full-time job. \n\n\n\nPolitically Aweh: Poll Dancing is taking a different approach: make people laugh while giving them something useful to think about. \n\n\n\nOn Wednesday\, 21 October 2026\, the political satire show heads to Cape Town‘s Homecoming Centre for an evening combining comedy\, journalism\, interviews\, sketches and fact-checked political commentary. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhen Politics Becomes Performance \n\n\n\nHosted by KG Mokgadi and Zoë Human\, Poll Dancing brings together comedians and political voices including Dillan Oliphant\, Dan Corder\, Lindy Johnson and Naledi Mashishi\, alongside additional contributors. \n\n\n\nThe format moves beyond a conventional stand-up show. Audiences can expect a mix of sketches\, reporting\, interviews and commentary designed to unpack the political stories dominating public conversation. \n\n\n\nThat makes the show particularly relevant in a South African environment where political information increasingly arrives through social media clips\, memes\, forwarded messages and heated group-chat debates. \n\n\n\nInstead of simply adding to the noise\, Poll Dancing aims to turn that noise into something audiences can interrogate — and laugh at. \n\n\n\nThe Facts Behind the Punchlines \n\n\n\nThe show’s biggest distinction is its attempt to pair satire with context. \n\n\n\nJournalists and research partners are involved in helping unpack political developments\, campaign promises and issues playing out on the ground. According to the organisers\, the information is fact-checked while politicians and political institutions remain open to scrutiny. \n\n\n\nThat balance creates an interesting space between comedy and civic conversation. \n\n\n\nThe objective isn’t to tell audiences what political position to hold. Instead\, Poll Dancing uses humour as an entry point into subjects that can otherwise feel complicated\, frustrating or inaccessible. \n\n\n\nFor younger audiences especially\, that approach can make political conversations feel less like a lecture and more like something worth engaging with. \n\n\n\nCome For The Laughs\, Leave With Context \n\n\n\nThere is also something deliberately social about the show’s concept. \n\n\n\nBring the friend who claims they “don’t follow politics” but somehow has a 17-minute WhatsApp voice note ready for every political development. Bring your own opinions. Bring the questions you have about the headlines. \n\n\n\nThen expect the evening to challenge some of the assumptions that come with them. \n\n\n\nPolitically Aweh: Poll Dancing takes place at 7PM on Wednesday\, 21 October 2026\, at the Homecoming Centre in Cape Town. Tickets are R250 via Quicket. \n\n\n\nFor a country where politics can dominate everyday conversations\, perhaps laughing at the chaos is one way of making space to understand it. \n\n\n\nGet informed. Get involved. Get to the polls.

SUMMARY:Cheslin Kolbe’s Story: From Kraaifontein to Rugby Greatness
DESCRIPTION:South African rugby has produced some unforgettable sporting heroes\, but Cheslin Kolbe’s journey carries a message that reaches far beyond the rugby field. The double Rugby World Cup winner grew up in Kraaifontein\, Cape Town\, facing doubts about whether his size would ever allow him to compete at the highest level. Now\, his story is taking centre stage in a new memoir that explores what it means to believe in yourself when others cannot see your potential. \n\n\n\nTitled Cheslin Kolbe: Sidestepping the Odds\, the book will officially launch at Cavendish Square on Thursday\, 22 October 2026\, giving fans an opportunity to meet one of South Africa’s most celebrated sporting figures. \n\n\n\nPresented in collaboration with Exclusive Books\, the free event will bring Kolbe together with award-winning broadcaster and co-author David O’Sullivan for a conversation about the experiences behind his remarkable career. \n\n\n\nMore Than a Rugby Story \n\n\n\nFor young South Africans navigating a world that often measures potential against appearance\, background or circumstances\, Kolbe’s journey offers a powerful reminder that other people’s expectations do not have to determine your future. \n\n\n\nThroughout his career\, Kolbe faced questions about whether he was big enough to succeed in professional rugby. Instead of allowing those doubts to define him\, he developed his abilities and continued pursuing his ambitions\, eventually becoming a key figure in the Springboks’ Rugby World Cup victories. \n\n\n\nHis achievements have made him an international sporting star\, but Sidestepping the Odds promises to look beyond the trophies and highlights. \n\n\n\nThe memoir explores the family\, faith and community that helped shape him\, offering readers a closer look at the people and personal experiences behind the player recognised around the world. \n\n\n\nFor audiences from communities like Kraaifontein\, his story also speaks to the importance of representation. Seeing someone who shares your roots reach the highest levels of international sport can challenge assumptions about what is possible and inspire the next generation to pursue their own ambitions. \n\n\n\nAn Opportunity to Hear the Story First-Hand \n\n\n\nThe Cavendish Square launch will give fans more than an opportunity to purchase a new book. It offers a chance to hear Kolbe reflect on his journey in conversation with O’Sullivan\, whose collaboration helped bring the memoir to life. \n\n\n\nThe discussion is expected to centre on the experiences captured in the book\, while attendees will also have the opportunity to purchase copies and have them signed by Kolbe. \n\n\n\nFor readers\, aspiring athletes and rugby supporters\, the event creates space to engage with the person behind the public achievements and discover more about the sacrifices\, relationships and determination that helped shape his career. \n\n\n\nEvent Details: Cheslin Kolbe Book Launch \n\n\n\nVenue: Cavendish Square\, lower level\, Cape TownArrival: 18:30Start time: 19:00Booking: Essential\, as places are limitedPublished by: Pan Macmillan South AfricaIn conversation with: David O’Sullivan \n\n\n\nWhy This Story Matters \n\n\n\nKolbe’s journey is a reminder that greatness is not always packaged in the way people expect. Sometimes\, it comes from the person others underestimate\, the community that keeps believing and the determination to keep moving when the odds appear stacked against you. \n\n\n\nWith Sidestepping the Odds\, South Africans have an opportunity to explore the personal story behind the rugby success — and perhaps find a little inspiration for their own journeys along the way.

SUMMARY:Purple Speedos\, Big Conversations: Daredevil Run 2026
DESCRIPTION:On 23 October\, Johannesburg is about to get a whole lot more purple. \n\n\n\nThe 2026 Hollard Daredevil Run is returning to Zoo Lake\, with thousands of participants expected to ditch their everyday running gear for the campaign’s most recognisable uniform: a very small purple speedo. \n\n\n\nBut beneath the laughs\, selfies and outrageous race-day outfits is a conversation that South African men cannot afford to keep avoiding. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMore Than Just a 5km Run \n\n\n\nNow in its 18th year\, the Hollard Daredevil Run has mastered the art of making an uncomfortable subject impossible to ignore. \n\n\n\nIts 2026 tagline\, “Lekker Balls. Lekker Life”\, brings the campaign’s irreverent personality to the forefront while keeping the focus firmly on prostate and testicular cancers. \n\n\n\nThe idea is simple: use spectacle to create conversation. \n\n\n\nSeeing hundreds of men running through Johannesburg in purple speedos might generate plenty of jokes and social-media content\, but the campaign ultimately wants those moments of attention to lead somewhere more meaningful — understanding cancer risks\, recognising changes in your body and taking early detection seriously. \n\n\n\nAnd that message extends beyond the men taking part. \n\n\n\nTurning Awkward Conversations Into Action \n\n\n\nMen’s health conversations can still be uncomfortable in many families\, friendship circles and workplaces. The Daredevil Run deliberately cuts through that discomfort with humour\, community and a little bit of embarrassment. \n\n\n\nHollard South Africa‘s Head of Experiential Marketing\, Adél Kriel\, says the attention generated by the purple speedos only matters if it gets people talking about the serious issue underneath the campaign. \n\n\n\nThat makes the run particularly relevant to a younger generation navigating a culture where conversations about mental and physical health are becoming increasingly open. \n\n\n\nThe goal isn’t simply to cross a finish line. It is to encourage people to know their risks\, understand their bodies and seek medical advice when necessary. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Bigger Impact Behind the Purple \n\n\n\nThe campaign also turns participation into tangible support. \n\n\n\nFunds raised through the run contribute to CANSA and the Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF)\, supporting awareness initiatives\, PSA screening and patient support. \n\n\n\nFor participants\, that means the seemingly ridiculous decision to run 5km in a speedo can contribute to something considerably more serious. \n\n\n\nThe run also embraces the idea that you don’t necessarily have to be an athlete to get involved. Friends\, families\, colleagues and student groups can participate together\, making the event as much about community as competition. \n\n\n\nJohannesburg Is Just The Beginning \n\n\n\nThe main Johannesburg event takes place at Zoo Lake on Friday\, 23 October at 15:00\, while Daredevil Runs will take place at various locations around the country on the same day. \n\n\n\nFor Mzansi’s urban communities\, the event offers an unusual combination of entertainment\, social connection and purpose. \n\n\n\nBecause sometimes getting people to talk about a serious issue requires doing something completely unexpected. \n\n\n\nThis October\, the purple speedo is the attention-grabber. The conversation is the real finish line.

SUMMARY:Thomas van Tonder Takes on 600 Monkey Bars
DESCRIPTION:600 Monkey Bars\, 216 Metres Up: Thomas van Tonder’s Biggest Challenge Yet \n\n\n\nWhat does it take to chase a dream when even you aren’t sure you can achieve it? For South African obstacle course racing (OCR) world champion Thomas van Tonder\, the answer involves more than 600 monkey bars\, months of gruelling preparation and a crossing suspended beneath one of the country’s most spectacular landmarks. \n\n\n\nOn 26 October 2026\, van Tonder will attempt to conquer the Red Bull Bridge Bars course beneath Bloukrans Bridge in the Eastern Cape\, 216 metres above the Bloukrans River. The challenge will test not only his physical limits but also his willingness to embrace uncertainty in pursuit of something extraordinary. \n\n\n\nThis isn’t just another extreme sports spectacle. It’s a story about ambition\, resilience and what happens when you deliberately choose the harder road. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA Course Designed to Push Human Limits \n\n\n\nSpanning the 451-metre bridge’s dramatic arch\, the course features more than 600 suspended monkey bars that follow the structure’s natural curves. Instead of offering a straightforward horizontal crossing\, the route forces van Tonder to climb uphill\, traverse the flatter crown and descend the opposite side. \n\n\n\nEach section presents a different physical battle. The ascent demands pulling power\, the middle tests endurance\, and the descent requires sustained control as fatigue sets in. \n\n\n\nFor someone who has competed across four continents and previously set a Guinness World Record with a rope climb between Johannesburg’s Soweto Towers in 2020\, this is unfamiliar territory. \n\n\n\nVan Tonder could have chosen a more manageable route. Instead\, he deliberately selected the version that nobody around him could confidently say was achievable. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHis reasoning is simple: if a challenge doesn’t push him into the unknown\, it might not be worth pursuing. \n\n\n\nFatherhood Has Changed the Meaning of the Challenge \n\n\n\nBehind the athletic ambition is a more personal motivation. Becoming a father has reshaped how van Tonder thinks about achievement\, responsibility and the example he sets for others. \n\n\n\nRather than simply telling people to work hard and follow their dreams\, he wants them to witness what that commitment looks like in practice. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe preparation itself has become part of the message. Months of specialised training have exposed weaknesses he hadn’t fully addressed\, particularly in his upper body. Injuries\, including persistent elbow tendonitis and shoulder pain\, have added another layer of difficulty. \n\n\n\nEven standing beneath Bloukrans Bridge for the first time brought a reality check. The structure looked far more imposing in person than it did on camera. \n\n\n\nFor young South Africans navigating their own ambitions\, that honesty matters. Progress doesn’t always look like confidence\, and pursuing a goal doesn’t mean having every answer before taking the first step. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSometimes\, growth begins with admitting that you’re not ready yet. \n\n\n\nThe Engineering Behind the Adrenaline \n\n\n\nWhile van Tonder prepares to put his strength and endurance to the test\, a specialist team faces a challenge of its own: building a safe course beneath a major bridge without permanently altering the structure. \n\n\n\nRichard Lievaart\, head of rigging and safety director at Vertical Safety Systems (VSS)\, has overseen the technical work required to make the crossing possible. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe installation cannot rely on drilling into or bolting equipment directly to the bridge. Instead\, the team has developed a temporary rigging solution with two independent safety systems: a rail system secured to the bridge’s truss and a separate safety line connected directly to van Tonder. \n\n\n\nThe engineering is a reminder that extreme sports achievements rarely happen through individual effort alone. Behind every athlete pushing boundaries is a network of people whose planning\, expertise and decisions help make the seemingly impossible achievable. \n\n\n\nSafety\, in this case\, is not a supporting detail. It is fundamental to the entire project. \n\n\n\nRed Bull Bridge Bars: When and Where to Watch \n\n\n\nThe main attempt is scheduled for 26 October 2026 at Bloukrans Bridge in the Tsitsikamma region of the Eastern Cape. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe crossing will be livestreamed on YouTube and Red Bull TV. If weather conditions prevent the attempt on the scheduled date\, 27 October 2026 has been set aside as the contingency date. \n\n\n\nFollow @redbullza on social media for updates and livestream timings in the days leading up to the attempt. \n\n\n\nWhy This Challenge Matters Beyond the Bridge \n\n\n\nVan Tonder’s goal extends beyond completing an extraordinary obstacle course. He hopes the project will encourage people to pursue ambitions that might appear unrealistic\, unconventional or even strange to those around them. \n\n\n\nThat message resonates in a country where young people are constantly finding creative ways to build careers\, develop skills and create opportunities despite uncertainty and limited resources. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNot every dream requires 600 monkey bars or a crossing hundreds of metres above a river. But every meaningful ambition demands some combination of preparation\, persistence and the courage to keep going when the outcome isn’t guaranteed. \n\n\n\nWhether van Tonder completes the crossing or not\, his preparation has already demonstrated something important: pursuing a difficult goal can reveal strengths\, weaknesses and possibilities that comfort never will. \n\n\n\nOn 26 October\, South Africa will watch one athlete take on a remarkable physical challenge. The bigger question is what the rest of us might be inspired to attempt once we see him reach for the other side.

SUMMARY:Bellville Business Expo 2026: Where Local Talent Grows
DESCRIPTION:South Africa‘s entrepreneurial spirit has never been short of ambition. From homegrown fashion labels and independent food producers to creative studios and emerging technology businesses\, local entrepreneurs continue to find ways to turn ideas into opportunities. The challenge is getting those ideas in front of the right people. \n\n\n\nThe Bellville Business Expo (BBEXPO) 2026 aims to help close that gap\, bringing the Northern Suburbs‘ business community together at Tyger Valley Centre on Wednesday\, 28 October\, and Thursday\, 29 October 2026. \n\n\n\nNow in its fourth year\, the expo is built around a simple message: Local is Better. And in an economy where small businesses need visibility\, customers and meaningful connections to grow\, that message carries weight. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBringing Bellville’s Business Community Under One Roof \n\n\n\nHosted by the Greater Tygerberg Partnership (GTP)\, in collaboration with better. together.\, the City of Cape Town and Tyger Valley Centre\, BBEXPO transforms a familiar retail destination into a meeting point for entrepreneurs\, consumers and aspiring business owners. \n\n\n\nVisitors can explore six themed Discovery Zones covering food and artisan products\, fashion and lifestyle\, creative industries\, professional services\, family experiences and emerging innovation. \n\n\n\nThe idea goes beyond putting businesses on display. It gives shoppers an opportunity to discover brands in their own neighbourhood\, meet the people behind the products and potentially build lasting relationships with businesses they might otherwise never encounter. \n\n\n\nFor exhibitors\, the opportunity is equally significant: direct access to potential customers\, increased brand visibility and the chance to develop partnerships in one of the Western Cape‘s established retail environments. \n\n\n\nAs GTP COO Nasmera Buckus explains\, supporting local businesses helps strengthen the wider economy shared by the community. \n\n\n\nFrom Browsing to Building Better Businesses \n\n\n\nBBEXPO 2026 also recognises that entrepreneurship requires more than a good product. Business owners need practical skills\, financial knowledge and the ability to adapt to changing customer behaviour. \n\n\n\nThat’s where the Level Up Business Lab comes in. \n\n\n\nThe free programme features workshops and expert-led sessions designed to help entrepreneurs tackle everyday business challenges. \n\n\n\nDay one’s programme covers practical artificial intelligence tools for small businesses\, access to finance\, and strategies for improving retail sales\, digital marketing and customer conversion. \n\n\n\nDay two shifts the focus towards turning interested shoppers into paying customers\, strengthening digital marketing and developing a brand identity that supports business growth. \n\n\n\nVisitors can also access an expert advice service and panel\, creating opportunities to ask questions and gain insights from experienced professionals. \n\n\n\nFor young South Africans exploring entrepreneurship\, these sessions offer a chance to learn about the realities of running a business\, from attracting customers to understanding the financial decisions that can determine whether an idea becomes sustainable. \n\n\n\nMeet the Makers\, Discover the Next Big Thing \n\n\n\nThe expo’s interactive experiences aim to make business discovery more engaging. \n\n\n\nThrough Meet the Maker spotlights\, 60-second entrepreneur pitches\, product demonstrations and giveaways\, visitors will get a closer look at the people and ideas shaping Bellville’s business landscape. \n\n\n\nThe Local is Better Passport Challenge adds another layer of participation. Visitors can complete activities throughout the expo\, including discovering women-owned businesses\, sampling products\, learning about sustainable business practices and voting for their favourite stands. Completed passports qualify for a chance to win expo prizes. \n\n\n\nBusinesses participating in GTP’s Level Up Programme will also exhibit\, including selected entrepreneurs from its Level Up Pitch Competition. \n\n\n\nThese features put emerging businesses in the spotlight while encouraging visitors to actively support the people building the local economy. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYour Invitation to Support Local \n\n\n\nBBEXPO 2026 takes place on 28 and 29 October at Tyger Valley Centre in Bellville\, Cape Town. Entry is free\, but registration is required. \n\n\n\nTickets are available through Quicket: https://qkt.io/BBEXPO2026 \n\n\n\nWhether you’re an entrepreneur looking to grow\, a creative searching for inspiration\, or a consumer interested in discovering homegrown brands\, the expo offers an opportunity to connect with the people behind local enterprise. \n\n\n\nBecause supporting local is about more than making a purchase. It’s about helping businesses gain the visibility\, relationships and opportunities they need to grow — and keeping that momentum within the communities we share. \n\n\n\nPerspective Shift: BBEXPO’s real value lies in bringing opportunity closer to home. For South Africa‘s emerging entrepreneurs\, visibility can be the difference between a promising idea that remains unknown and a business that finds its customers. For the public\, it is a reminder that innovation doesn’t only come from major corporations. Sometimes\, the next business worth watching is already operating in your neighbourhood.

SUMMARY:FAME Week Africa 2026: Where African Creativity Meets Opportunity
DESCRIPTION:Africa’s creative industries are full of stories worth telling\, but getting those stories funded\, produced and in front of global audiences takes more than talent. It takes access\, meaningful connections and the right people willing to take a chance on an idea. \n\n\n\nThat’s where FAME Week Africa 2026 comes in. Returning to Cape Town‘s CTICC2 from 28–30 October\, the event will bring together 211 speakers\, more than 80 buyers and commissioning editors\, international producers and creative professionals for three days focused on the business behind Africa’s cultural influence. \n\n\n\nFor emerging filmmakers\, independent producers\, musicians\, fashion entrepreneurs and digital creators\, the opportunity goes beyond attending another industry event. It is about getting African ideas into rooms where decisions are made. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTurning African Creativity Into Global Opportunity \n\n\n\nThe creative economy offers young South Africans multiple ways to build careers\, from filmmaking and music production to fashion\, digital storytelling and content creation. However\, turning a promising concept into a sustainable business can be challenging when funding\, distribution and industry connections remain difficult to access. \n\n\n\nFAME Week Africa aims to bring those conversations closer together. \n\n\n\nWith distributors\, broadcasters\, financiers and international commissioning executives attending\, the event creates opportunities for creatives to pitch projects\, explore partnerships and better understand what audiences and content buyers are looking for. \n\n\n\nThrough its ConnectMe platform\, delegates can schedule meetings before arriving\, helping them approach the market with more than just business cards and good intentions. \n\n\n\nA major programme highlight will bring senior representatives from MultiChoice\, CANAL+ and STUDIOCANAL together to discuss commissioning priorities\, audience expectations and what producers need to understand when pitching to CANAL+ Africa. \n\n\n\nFor independent creators\, knowing how these decisions are made could be just as valuable as securing a meeting. \n\n\n\nFifty Years of Television\, Ten Years of Netflix \n\n\n\nSouth Africa‘s screen industry has changed dramatically over the decades\, moving from traditional broadcasting towards streaming platforms\, international collaborations and increasingly diverse viewing habits. \n\n\n\nIn 2026\, two major milestones provide an opportunity to reflect on that evolution: 50 years of SABC television and 10 years of Netflix in South Africa. \n\n\n\nThe SABC’s five-decade legacy highlights the enduring importance of local broadcasting\, while Netflix’s decade in the country demonstrates how South African productions can reach audiences far beyond their original markets. \n\n\n\nAccording to the announcement\, Netflix productions and partnerships have supported more than 8\,000 direct and indirect jobs over the past decade and worked with more than 30 local production companies. \n\n\n\nThese figures point to an important conversation for the next generation of creatives: how can South Africa continue developing homegrown talent while building businesses capable of competing internationally? \n\n\n\nThe challenge is not simply producing more content. It is ensuring that creators have the skills\, resources\, rights and commercial opportunities to benefit from the stories they bring to life. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAfrican Stories\, International Partnerships \n\n\n\nFrance takes centre stage as FAME Week Africa’s 2026 Destination Country\, opening another avenue for collaboration between African and European creative industries. \n\n\n\nFrench producers\, buyers and distributors will connect with African counterparts to explore co-productions\, distribution and creative exchange. The programme begins on 27 October with French Night at Cape Town’s Homecoming Centre\, featuring the African premiere of Le Fantôme de l’Opéra. \n\n\n\nFor South African filmmakers and producers\, international partnerships can create access to new funding opportunities\, technical expertise and distribution networks. The real opportunity\, however\, lies in building collaborations that preserve the cultural identity of African stories rather than simply adapting them for overseas markets. \n\n\n\nThe event will also feature familiar South African creative voices\, including Kim Jayde\, Thando Thabethe\, Thabo Rametsi\, Flavia Motsisi and Mimi Bartels. Meanwhile\, the African Women in Entertainment Breakfast\, powered by RAY Content Hub\, will feature a keynote address by Lorcia Cooper. \n\n\n\nMore Than Film: A Creative Economy in Motion \n\n\n\nFAME Week Africa extends beyond traditional screen industries\, recognising how music\, fashion\, food and digital culture increasingly intersect. \n\n\n\nMuziki Africa will explore music rights\, royalties\, synchronisation\, artificial intelligence and monetisation\, while the African Fashion Forum will focus on the business and future of African fashion. Tastes + Threads will bring fashion\, food\, music and storytelling together under the theme Threads of Africa: From the Streets to the World. \n\n\n\nThe Inclusive Lens Awards\, powered by Earcandy and hosted by Siv Ngesi\, will also recognise representation of LGBTQ+ communities\, people with disabilities and children on screen. \n\n\n\nAfter the main programme\, the FAME Shorts Film Festival will take over The Rockefeller Hotel from 30 October to 1 November\, presenting 36 films across three days. \n\n\n\nTogether\, these initiatives reflect a broader creative landscape in which culture is not just entertainment. It is also intellectual property\, employment\, entrepreneurship and an opportunity to shape how African communities are represented. \n\n\n\nThe Next Opportunity Could Start With One Conversation \n\n\n\nFAME Week Africa 2026 takes place at CTICC2 in Cape Town from 28–30 October\, with the French Night programme beginning on 27 October and the FAME Shorts Film Festival running from 30 October to 1 November. \n\n\n\nFor creatives hoping to turn an idea into a viable project\, the most valuable takeaway may be understanding how the industry works\, identifying the right collaborators and learning what it takes to move from concept to commission. \n\n\n\nThe speakers and buyers will be there\, but opportunity rarely comes from simply being in the room. It comes from arriving prepared\, asking better questions and knowing the value of your work. \n\n\n\nInterested in attending? Registration is available through the official FAME Week Africa website. \n\n\n\nFor Africa’s next generation of storytellers\, the question is no longer whether the continent has stories worth sharing. It is how those stories can travel further\, create sustainable opportunities and remain authentically African along the way.

DESCRIPTION:HACC 2026: Defining the Future of Filmmaking \n\n\n\nThe Hollywood African Cinema Connection (HACC) returns for its highly anticipated third edition\, set to take place in Cape Town from 30 October to 2 November 2026. Under the powerful theme “Our Land. Our Heritage.”\, the festival continues its mission of bridging African storytelling with global industry expertise\, while unlocking new opportunities for filmmakers across continents. \n\n\n\nPositioned as a dynamic hub for collaboration\, HACC 2026 invites submissions from filmmakers across Africa\, Asia—including the Middle East\, India\, and Southeast Asia—as well as the diaspora and international creators whose work resonates with these regions. The festival seeks compelling narratives that explore land\, identity\, heritage\, and belonging—stories that reflect both personal and collective histories. \n\n\n\nA Global Platform for Storytellers \n\n\n\nHACC has steadily built its reputation as a vital platform where creativity meets industry access. Selected filmmakers will have the opportunity to showcase their work to distributors\, buyers\, and key decision-makers\, while engaging directly with audiences in Cape Town. \n\n\n\nSubmissions are now open via FilmFreeway\, with eligibility limited to films completed after October 2024. Preference will be given to South African premieres\, further reinforcing the festival’s commitment to spotlighting fresh\, locally rooted storytelling. \n\n\n\nStrategic Industry Alignment \n\n\n\nThe 2026 edition is strategically aligned with MIP Africa and FAME Week Africa\, positioning HACC within one of the continent’s most influential entertainment ecosystems. This alignment significantly enhances visibility for participating filmmakers\, opening doors to global distribution deals\, co-production opportunities\, and industry partnerships. \n\n\n\nDriving Innovation in Film \n\n\n\nBeyond screenings\, HACC 2026 will host a curated programme of discussions and panels exploring the future of filmmaking across the Global South. Topics will include emerging technologies such as virtual production\, digital infrastructure\, and the growing influence of Web3 and AI in content creation. \n\n\n\nEqually important are conversations around evolving funding and distribution models\, including decentralised finance and crowdfunding—tools that are reshaping how films are financed and shared globally. \n\n\n\nA Gateway for Investment and Partnerships \n\n\n\nHACC 2026 also presents a compelling opportunity for investors\, brands\, and industry service providers. From film companies and airlines to tech innovators and hospitality groups\, the festival offers high-impact exposure to a valuable audience of creatives\, buyers\, and decision-makers. \n\n\n\nWith premium media visibility and direct engagement opportunities\, partners are positioned at the heart of a fast-growing global content economy. The festival serves as a rare gateway into scalable growth across film\, tourism\, and the broader creative industries. \n\n\n\nCelebrating Excellence and Talent \n\n\n\nOver the four-day event\, HACC will present a carefully curated selection of films alongside awards recognising excellence in filmmaking. These accolades are designed not only to honour creative achievement but also to support the continued development and distribution of winning projects. \n\n\n\nVisionary Leadership \n\n\n\nHACC was founded by Weaam Williams\, a South African writer\, director\, and actress with nearly two decades of experience in the industry. Her acclaimed body of work includes Hip-Hop Revolution\, which earned recognition from Spike Lee\, and District Six: Rising from the Dust\, now streaming on Amazon Prime Video. \n\n\n\nWilliams continues to play a pivotal role in nurturing emerging talent and expanding access to international distribution networks\, reinforcing HACC’s mission to connect creators with global opportunities. \n\n\n\nBuilding the Future of Cinema \n\n\n\nSupported by an expanding network of international partners across film\, technology\, and innovation sectors\, HACC 2026 is more than a festival—it is a movement aimed at redefining the future of storytelling. \n\n\n\nBy fostering collaboration\, embracing technological advancement\, and amplifying diverse voices\, HACC is shaping a new narrative for African\, Asian\, and diaspora cinema on the global stage. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFilmmakers are encouraged to submit early ahead of the upcoming deadline on 27 June 2026\, as the festival anticipates a high volume of entries. \n\n\n\nAs the global film industry continues to evolve\, HACC 2026 stands as a powerful testament to the role of storytelling in connecting cultures\, driving innovation\, and creating meaningful impact worldwide.

SUMMARY:Creme of Nature and The Throne Put Purpose at the Centre of African Creativity
DESCRIPTION:The Throne Masterclass 2026: The Purpose Edition brings together South African creatives\, entrepreneurs and industry leaders to explore identity\, authentic storytelling and building with intention. \n\n\n\nIn a world where everyone is competing for attention\, knowing who you are and what you stand for can make all the difference. That is the conversation behind the upcoming The Throne Masterclass 2026: The Purpose Edition\, with Creme of Nature coming on board as the event’s official headline brand partner. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTaking place on Saturday\, 31 October 2026\, at Workshop17 on West Street in Sandton\, the masterclass will bring together creatives\, entrepreneurs\, founders\, business leaders and visionaries for a day of conversations around purpose\, entrepreneurship\, leadership and the evolving creator economy. \n\n\n\nThis year’s edition places the spotlight on a question worth asking: what changes when you build your career\, business or creative platform around who you really are\, your background and the impact you want to make? \n\n\n\nFor a generation navigating the worlds of digital content\, personal branding and entrepreneurship\, the message is particularly relevant. Building visibility is one thing; creating something meaningful that reflects your identity and values is another. \n\n\n\nMore than hair: the stories behind Unstoppable Hair\n\n\n\nCreme of Nature’s partnership connects with its Unstoppable Hair platform\, which celebrates hair as an expression of African women’s identity\, heritage\, confidence and individuality. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHair has long been part of how people express themselves\, connect with their roots and communicate who they are. Through Unstoppable Hair\, Creme of Nature extends that conversation beyond beauty\, recognising the personal stories and experiences that shape individual identity. \n\n\n\nThe partnership will bring this perspective into discussions about creativity\, business and brand building\, exploring how authenticity can become an important part of creating work that resonates with people. \n\n\n\nStorytelling as a powerful creative currency\n\n\n\nA key moment at the masterclass will be a dedicated panel discussion featuring Zandi Zinganto\, Senior Brand Manager for Revlon South Africa\, alongside members of the Creme of Nature Squad. \n\n\n\nThe discussion will explore storytelling as a powerful tool for building purpose-led African brands\, with a focus on how creators and businesses can remain connected to their heritage while finding opportunities in an increasingly competitive digital landscape. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTopics will include building brands around personal stories\, navigating relationships between brands and creators\, and turning authentic creative expression into meaningful impact and opportunity. \n\n\n\nThe Creme of Nature Squad brings a new generation of South African creators into the conversation\, each contributing their own perspective\, personality and experiences to the Unstoppable Hair platform. Their participation offers an opportunity to explore what it means to create with intention while staying true to yourself in a digital environment that is constantly changing. \n\n\n\nAs Zinganto explains\, the platform has always been about more than hair\, celebrating the confidence\, individuality and stories that make people who they are. The partnership with The Throne Masterclass creates an opportunity to extend that message into how people create\, lead and build their futures. \n\n\n\nTurning purpose into progress\n\n\n\nBeyond the panel discussions\, The Throne Masterclass 2026 will bring industry leaders and brand pioneers together to examine how purpose can influence careers\, businesses and creative practices. \n\n\n\nNetworking sessions will also give attendees opportunities to connect with fellow creatives\, potential collaborators\, entrepreneurs and decision-makers working towards similar ambitions. \n\n\n\nFor emerging creators and established professionals alike\, these conversations arrive at a time when the relationship between culture\, creativity and business continues to evolve. Personal identity\, community connections and original perspectives can all influence how creative work develops and finds its audience. \n\n\n\nThe challenge is to move beyond simply having a story to tell and understand how to use that story to build something sustainable. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThrough its partnership with Creme of Nature\, The Throne Masterclass is placing that challenge at the centre of this year’s edition\, encouraging South Africans to embrace their individuality\, recognise the value of their experiences and approach their ambitions with greater intention. \n\n\n\nUltimately\, purpose is not just about knowing what you want to achieve. It is also about understanding why it matters and what you want your work to contribute. \n\n\n\nFor those looking to build a creative career\, grow a business or find a stronger sense of direction\, The Throne Masterclass 2026: The Purpose Edition offers a space to explore those questions alongside people shaping South Africa’s creative and entrepreneurial landscape. \n\n\n\nThe takeaway: Your story is part of what makes your work distinctive. The next step is learning how to build around it\, with purpose\, authenticity and a clear sense of direction.

SUMMARY:LYFE 2026 Brings New Sounds to Joburg
DESCRIPTION:Joburg’s summer soundtrack is getting a fresh chapter as Y brings LYFE 2026 back to Marks Park\, Emmarentia\, on Saturday\, 31 October. \n\n\n\nBut this isn’t simply another date on the city’s gig calendar. LYFE is positioning itself as a meeting point for the sounds\, artists and audiences pushing South African music beyond predictable genre lines. \n\n\n\nWith a line-up moving through R&B\, neo-soul\, contemporary jazz and alternative sounds\, the festival is tapping into a generation that wants music experiences that feel personal\, discovery-driven and connected to culture. \n\n\n\nA Line-Up Built Around Discovery \n\n\n\nLeading the South African charge are Shekhinah\, Thando Zide\, Lusanda and Umzulu Phaqa\, bringing different musical perspectives to a festival built around variety rather than a single sound. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoining them is London-raised singer-songwriter AMA\, formerly known as AMA LOU. Her music blends contemporary R&B with neo-soul\, garage and drill\, adding an international perspective to LYFE’s distinctly South African foundation. \n\n\n\nThat combination is significant. \n\n\n\nSouth African audiences are increasingly engaging with global sounds while local artists continue to reinterpret them through their own experiences. LYFE’s programming reflects that exchange\, putting homegrown talent alongside an artist whose sound has travelled from London to an international audience. \n\n\n\nMore Than the Main Stage \n\n\n\nThe experience extends beyond the headline performances\, with Y’s own LesediTheDJ\, Venom\, Rarri\, Fae-Fae and Fif_Laaa bringing alternative selections to the day. \n\n\n\nOn hosting duties\, Ayanda MVP\, Nia Brown\, Hey Shawty\, Karen Mthethwa and Tulz Madala will bring Y’s familiar personality and audience connection to the festival. \n\n\n\nFor Music Curator Codi Dinca\, the intention is to create a musical journey that moves between the familiar\, unexpected and new — giving listeners room to discover artists and sounds they may not encounter in their everyday playlists. \n\n\n\nThat makes LYFE particularly relevant to a young Joburg audience constantly searching for the next sound\, artist or cultural moment. \n\n\n\nYour LYFE 2026 Episode \n\n\n\nThink of the day as a full-length musical episode: 10AM to 8PM at Marks Park\, with the story unfolding through live performances\, DJs\, hosts and the energy of a crowd united by alternative music. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThere is also a practical incentive for early birds. Y has introduced a discounted early-arrival ticket\, with attendees required to arrive by 1PM to access the special rate. Those arriving later will pay an additional fee at the door. \n\n\n\nLYFE 2026 takes place on Saturday\, 31 October 2026\, at Marks Park\, Emmarentia. The event is strictly 18+. \n\n\n\nFor a city whose cultural identity is constantly evolving\, LYFE is creating space for the artists and sounds helping shape what comes next. \n\n\n\nTickets are available through Webtickets.
