SUMMARY:Dru Hill and Silk Set Pretoria for R&B Throwback
DESCRIPTION:Pretoria is getting ready to turn back the clock\, but this isn’t just another nostalgia concert. Dru Hill and Silk are bringing the sound of classic R&B to the SunBet Arena at Time Square on Sunday\, 22 May 2027\, for the inaugural We Love R&B Concert Experience. \n\n\n\nFor South African audiences who grew up with R&B as the soundtrack to school dances\, late-night radio and slow-jam playlists\, the announcement taps into something deeper than a collection of hit songs. It is about revisiting an era when vocal groups\, harmonies and unforgettable melodies dominated the culture. \n\n\n\nTwo R&B Heavyweights\, One Pretoria Stage \n\n\n\nDru Hill arrive with a catalogue that remains instantly recognisable decades after its release. \n\n\n\nThe multi-platinum group is expected to perform fan favourites including In My Bed\, Never Make a Promise\, How Deep Is Your Love\, Beauty and These Are the Times — songs that continue to occupy a special place in the memories of R&B fans. \n\n\n\nJoining them is fellow vocal powerhouse Silk\, best known for the enduring anthem Freak Me and Meeting in My Bedroom. \n\n\n\nTogether\, the groups represent a particular chapter in R&B history where powerhouse vocals and intricate harmonies were just as important as the production behind the songs. \n\n\n\nMore Than a Nostalgia Trip \n\n\n\nWhat makes the Pretoria event particularly interesting is its positioning as an experience\, rather than simply another concert on the gig calendar. \n\n\n\nFor younger audiences discovering these artists through parents\, streaming platforms\, social media and revived interest in 90s and 2000s culture\, the show could become a meeting point between generations. \n\n\n\nFor older fans\, meanwhile\, it offers an opportunity to experience songs that have travelled far beyond their original era and found a new life among today’s listeners. \n\n\n\nThat cross-generational appeal is increasingly important in South Africa‘s live entertainment landscape\, where nostalgia has become a powerful way of connecting established international acts with younger audiences. \n\n\n\nThe Mystery Act Could Change the Conversation \n\n\n\nThere is also a deliberate element of suspense. \n\n\n\nRemoakantse Holdings managing director Thabiso Mogashwa has confirmed that another major announcement is still to come\, with the additional act currently being kept under wraps. \n\n\n\nWith Dru Hill and Silk already confirmed\, the mystery addition gives the concert another layer of anticipation — and suggests that the organisers are building towards a broader celebration of R&B rather than relying on two headline acts alone. \n\n\n\nFor Pretoria’s music lovers\, the question now isn’t whether the city is getting an R&B night. It’s who else will be joining the party? \n\n\n\nTickets for the We Love R&B Concert Experience are available exclusively through Webtickets and Pick n Pay outlets nationwide.
