Coming off a remarkable run of intimate performances across South Africa, Bongeziwe Mabandla is set to make one of his most anticipated live appearances yet: his debut at the renowned Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts on 14 December 2025. This milestone marks an exciting moment in the artist’s journey as he prepares to unveil new music in one of the country’s most iconic outdoor venues.
A Prestigious Stage for a Celebrated Artist
Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden is famous for its breathtaking outdoor amphitheatre and its history of spotlighting South Africa’s top musical talent. Over the years, the stage has welcomed icons like Msaki, Mi Casa, and Karen Zoid. Now, Bongeziwe Mabandla—one of the nation’s most respected and globally recognised independent folk artists—joins this extraordinary lineage.
This move also highlights Kirstenbosch’s commitment to expanding the diversity of its lineups. Bongeziwe’s addition reflects a powerful embrace of inclusive and culturally rich artistry.
A Dynamic Trio Bringing Bongeziwe’s Sound to Life
For this special performance, Bongeziwe will be joined by his trusted trio:
- Tiago Correia-Paulo – long-time collaborator, producer, and creative partner
- Trkz – known for adding depth, texture, and dynamic elements to the live experience
Together, they will deliver an emotionally layered and musically rich performance that fans have come to cherish—filled with warmth, intention, and the signature essence that defines Bongeziwe’s work.
Co-Headlining with Matthew Field of Beatenberg
Adding to the magic of the evening, Bongeziwe will share the stage with Matthew Field from the acclaimed band Beatenberg. This co-headline pairing merges two unique musical voices—folk, indie, and alternative influences seamlessly intertwining for an unforgettable night under the Cape Town sky.
A First Listen to New Music
Fans attending the concert will be among the first to hear new songs from Bongeziwe’s forthcoming album. These fresh works will blend beautifully with selections from his celebrated discography, including favourites from Umlilo, Mangaliso, iiMini, and amaXesha—all presented with renewed energy through the trio format.
Exclusive Vinyl for Collectors
Concertgoers can look forward to exclusive vinyl available for purchase at the event. This is a special opportunity for supporters to take home a unique piece of Bongeziwe’s evolving artistry.
