fabric London Rocks Mzansi’s Electronic Music Scene

fabric London, the legendary electronic music institution, has wrapped up a triumphant South African run with two unforgettable events in Johannesburg on 9 January and Cape Town on 10 January 2026. With Cape Town completely sold out and both cities operating at full capacity, the tour delivered relentless energy, cutting-edge production, and a powerful fusion of international excellence and local brilliance.

Across both nights, dance floors stayed packed from start to finish as deeply engaged crowds soaked in seamless sets from artists at the top of their game. International headliners Marcel Dettmann, Gerd Janson, and Gabrielle Kwarteng anchored the line-ups with commanding performances that reinforced fabric’s global reputation for forward-thinking curation and uncompromising musical quality.

In Johannesburg, fabric joined forces with iconic techno promoters TOYTOY for an immersive three-floor takeover spanning AND Club and Carfax. The result was a raw, underground experience that pulsed throughout the night. Local legend Vinny da Vinci headlined alongside an impressive South African lineup including Abby Nurock, Avi Subban, Black Lake, Bongani Zulu, Cornelius SA, Illing, Karmerr, Paulo Lundall, Sanetran, Sir LSG, and Transmicsoul. The genre-spanning selection—ranging from deep house and techno to soulful grooves—kept Johannesburg’s nightlife hub moving until the early hours.

Cape Town’s edition elevated the experience even further, transforming the historic Castle of Good Hope into a vibrant sonic playground. Disco icons Horse Meat Disco led the bill, supported by a diverse and eclectic local roster featuring Athie Umgido, Digital Sangoma, Irshaad S, Lady M, Leighton Moody, Miss CJ, Raresoftware, Resident DTK, Thamiache, Wata Mami, and YAMZ. World-class production brought the venue to life, with Dreamrec’s visuals at the Dolphin Pond pushing the event into immersive new territory where house, disco, and experimental sounds collided.

Both events were met with glowing praise from attendees and critics alike, applauding the flawless execution and the seamless blend of global and local sounds that captured the spirit of South Africa’s ever-evolving electronic music culture.

“The incredible list of local supporting acts we assembled for Johannesburg and Cape Town truly showcased the depth and diversity of South Africa’s electronic music talent. These shows were electric, blending fabric’s 25-year legacy of world-class curation with the raw energy and creativity of local artists. It was a game-changer for dance music fans.”
