Courtroom Tension Rises in Season 2 of 61st Street, Premiering 19 June on Universal TV
The high-stakes legal thriller 61st Street returns for its second and final season, reigniting the courtroom drama and systemic tension that made the first chapter so compelling. Premiering on 19 June 2025 at 20:00 CAT on Universal TV (DStv Channel 117), the series will air weekly every Thursday until the gripping season finale on 1 August.
This eight-part season continues the story of Moses Johnson, a gifted Black high school athlete whose life is turned upside down after he’s wrongfully accused of being involved in a police officer’s death during a chaotic drug raid. As the wheels of a flawed justice system begin to crush him, hope arrives in the form of Franklin Roberts, played by Emmy®-winner Courtney B. Vance, who delays his retirement as a public defender to take on Johnson’s case.

Roberts’ pursuit of justice quickly evolves into something larger — a full-blown indictment of Chicago’s corrupt and racially biased criminal justice system. As cracks in the institutional framework begin to show, Season 2 raises the stakes with emotional courtroom showdowns, moral complexity, and deeply personal consequences.
Joining Vance is a powerhouse cast including Aunjanue Ellis, Mark O’Brien, Holt McCallany, Tosin Cole, Andrene Ward-Hammond, Bentley Green, and Jerod Haynes.

Produced by AMC Studios, the series boasts a formidable executive production team, including BAFTA-winner Peter Moffat (The Night Of), J. David Shanks (Seven Seconds, The Chi), and Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society, with Elizabeth Raposo, Alana Mayo, Jeff Freilich, and Hilary Salmon also attached.
With an intricate blend of legal drama and social commentary, 61st Street Season 2 promises to be a riveting ride to justice — or something like it.

📺 Don’t miss the Season 2 premiere of 61st Street on 19 June at 20:00 CAT, only on Universal TV (DStv Channel 117). New episodes drop every Thursday through 1 August 2025.
