Rorisang Sechele Takes Center Stage as Vocal Musical Director of the Choir in Electrifying Red Bull Symphonic Orchestra 2025 Experience

Lights. Orchestra. Amapiano. Powerhouse vocals… and action!

This past weekend, the Montecasino Teatro in Johannesburg transformed into a sonic wonderland as the Red Bull Symphonic Orchestra Experience 2025 returned in full force. Sold out and nothing short of electric, the three-day performance fused the street-born pulse of Amapiano with the rich textures of a classical symphony, led by maestro Kelvin Momo, the Egoli Symphonic Orchestra under Adam Howard, and, taking center stage—Rorisang Sechele, Vocal Musical Director of the Red Bull Symphonic Orchestra Choir.

Returning to the Red Bull Symphonic stage, but this time with baton in hand and vision in mind, Sechele elevated the choir’s role to commanding heights. With her signature blend of musical finesse and bold creativity, she arranged and directed the vocal elements that harmonized perfectly with the orchestral swell and Amapiano groove. Her leadership brought dimension, soul, and synergy to a show that seamlessly bridged genres and redefined what South African music can sound like.

The choir—curated under her music and arts development platform African Orchid Productions—featured an eight-piece vocal ensemble: two sopranos, two altos, two tenors, and two basses. Familiar voices returned, including Ermelo-born tenor uSmokolo and bass Rashaka Mbevhana (aka Shakes) from acclaimed group Just 6, as well as the soulful alto Josie Matabola, known for her jazz-infused style.

Sechele’s return comes hot on the heels of the release of her debut album In Full Bloom – The Seed, which effortlessly blends jazz, neo-soul, and gospel influences. Her work was recently spotlighted on Spotify’s Jazz NXT playlist, confirming her as a name to watch on the contemporary music scene.

Her triumph as Vocal Musical Director at the Red Bull Symphonic Experience solidifies her reputation as not just a vocal powerhouse, but also a visionary leader in South Africa’s evolving musical landscape.
