Our Experience at the Launch of the Stella Artois Racquet Club – Where Fashion, Culture, and Sport Collide

LEISURE, SERVED: Our Experience at the Stella Artois Racquet Club Launch

On Tuesday, 3 June 2025, Urban Lifestyle had the privilege of attending the launch of the Stella Artois Racquet Club—an event that went far beyond sport. Hosted at the elegant Sass Café in Bedfordview, Johannesburg, the event blended luxury, fashion, and padel culture into a single unforgettable afternoon. And if there’s one thing that stood out to us above all, it was the fashion-forward atmosphere that turned the court into a runway.

The dress code? “Aspiring tennis pro” – and guests delivered in style. The theme brought a playful, chic energy that elevated the experience. The highlight for many (ourselves included) was a live photoshoot setup with renowned photographer Cedric Nzaka, who captured each guest in their finest courtside fits.

A Club Beyond the Court

Hosted by the charismatic Khule Adams, the Stella Artois Racquet Club launch wasn’t just a party—it was a cultural statement. Khule opened the afternoon by describing the club as a “marriage of culture, elegance, good vibes, and sport,” setting the tone for what Stella Artois aims to cultivate in South Africa.

One of the most anticipated moments was the unveiling of a limited-edition capsule collection co-created by design visionary Keneilwe Mothoa, who joined Stella Artois in proving that fashion and function belong together—both on and off the court.

“I’m so grateful and honoured to be partnering with Stella. They always support me in my endeavours. Big hugs to you, Stella!”

Keneilwe said

Words from the Visionaries

Stella ArtoisMarketing Manager, Estee Burger, offered heartfelt remarks about what this launch represents:

“At Stella Artois, we’ve always believed that leisure should be more than just a quick break—it should be a whole mood. From the court to the culture, this is how we like to play.”

She also introduced the Stella Artois Racquet Club lifestyle guide, South Africa’s first curated directory to culturally rich and design-led padel venues. Members of this new club can expect early access to event invites, exclusive merchandise, and more.

A Star-Studded Showdown

Of course, it wouldn’t be a launch without some heat on the court. Some South African stars battled it out in a friendly celebrity tennis match:

  • Lloyiso and Shekinah teamed up to face off against
  • Thapelo Mokoena and Thabsie

Each brought their flair to the game, proving that talent and charisma go a long way—even in sneakers. The crowd roared as Lloyiso threatened to come for Thapelo with full force, while Shekinah and Thabsie lit up the court with confidence and charm.

JR and Roxy Burger won bragging rights for the day’s matches, with Lloyiso and Shekhinah as runners up.

Setting the Vibe

The afternoon was soundtracked by DJ Mamthug, while guests sipped on perfectly served Stella Artois and mingled with the country’s top creatives and influencers. Notable faces included Nadia Nakai, Jessica Mashaba, Lerato Mvelase, Mzukisi Mbane, Tamara Moeng, Manana, and Sindiso Nyoni.

Final Thoughts

The Stella Artois Racquet Club is more than just an event series—it’s a movement. By intertwining style, sport, and social energy, it reimagines what modern leisure can look like in South Africa. Whether you’re picking up a padel racket for the first time or dressing up for the vibe, Stella’s message is clear: Leisure is meant to be intentional, elegant, and shared.

We can’t wait to see where this club pops up next.
