Black Coffee Foundation Takes Fundraising to Monaco During Grand Prix Weekend
Following a spectacular Johannesburg gala that raised over R3.1 million, the Black Coffee Foundation is taking its mission global—next stop: Monaco. On 25 May 2025, the world-renowned DJ and philanthropist will host an exclusive fundraising gala at the Fairmont Monte Carlo, set against the high-octane glamour of the Monaco Grand Prix weekend.
This extraordinary evening blends philanthropy, luxury, and the global power of music, all in support of a bold vision—The Black Coffee Music Academy, a world-class institution set to redefine music education for young African artists. The Academy aims to empower future talent by offering a comprehensive curriculum that includes music production, album creation, marketing, and business acumen tailored for the global stage.
The Foundation’s journey began with a glamorous Johannesburg event that marked Black Coffee’s birthday in style. Attended by South Africa’s elite—including Major League DJz, ANATII, Blxckie, Fikile Mbalula, and former Miss South Africa Dr. Tamaryn Green—the evening featured a live auction hosted by Strauss & Co., musical performances by Zandile Mzazi and Nduduzo Makhathini, and a bespoke menu by Chef Scott. The event not only celebrated Black Coffee‘s legacy but set the stage for a larger, more international movement.

Now, the stakes are even higher. As Monaco welcomes racing royalty, the Black Coffee Foundation will gather global philanthropists, music icons, and industry leaders for a night of purpose-driven opulence. With the buzz of Formula 1 engines in the background, the gala aims to spark international momentum and funding for the Academy’s development.
“The overwhelming success of our first gala reaffirmed our belief that this Academy is not just a dream—it’s a necessity. We’re now bringing that belief to a global stage, rallying support to ensure our vision becomes a reality.”
said Lungie Maphumulo, CEO of the Black Coffee Foundation
“This Academy represents everything I’ve worked towards—creating real opportunities for African creatives. Hosting our next gala in Monaco during one of the world’s most iconic weekends is a powerful next step.”
