Our Experience at Cotton Fest 2025: A Celebration of Music, Culture, and Youth Expression

Cotton Fest 2025 was everything we expected and so much more. As Urban Lifestyle, we were excited to return to one of the most vibrant festivals on the cultural calendar. What started as a tribute to Riky Rick’s vision has grown into a massive celebration of music, fashion, creativity, and youth energy—and this year proved that Cotton Fest is more than just a music festival; it’s a cultural movement.

From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was buzzing. Cotton Eaters from all over the country pulled up, dressed in bold, unapologetic streetwear looks that turned the venue into a walking fashion show. Style was a form of self-expression—and Cotton Fest continues to be the stage where local street fashion and identity collide.

The lineup was stacked with South Africa’s best—from Amapiano and hip hop to alternative sounds that showcased the range of our homegrown talent. Multiple stages meant there was always something happening, whether it was a high-energy performance, a DJ set that got the crowd jumping, or a low-key moment to discover new artists.

But one of the standout moments for us this year? The Mini Ramp Jam skateboarding competition hosted by Perfect Weather Skate Foundation. Even though we initially attended to cover the music and fashion vibes, we couldn’t help but be drawn into the energy at the ramp. It was a crossover of culture that reminded us of the diversity and depth Cotton Fest brings every year. Shoutout to Dada Marumo and the whole crew for keeping the skate culture alive and thriving.

Cotton Fest 2025 was more than a festival—it was a playground for self-expression, creativity, and community. Whether you came for the music, the fashion, the skateboarding, or just to be surrounded by like-minded souls, there was something for everyone.

And for us at Urban Lifestyle, the biggest takeaway was simple: South African youth culture is alive, confident, and unstoppable.
