In a landmark first, CBS will present the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), broadcasting the iconic celebration of global music culture live from the UBS Arena on Monday, 8 September at 02:00am CAT. This marks a major shift for the awards show, which will now be simulcast on MTV (DStv Channel 130) and other Paramount Media Networks, bringing the glamour and spectacle of the VMAs to an even wider audience across multiple platforms.
The three-hour live CBS broadcast will be preceded by a one-hour pre-show, also airing live, setting the stage for what promises to be a night of unforgettable performances and culture-shifting moments.
The 2024 VMAs reached the largest multi-network audience in four years, boasting a 25% year-over-year growth and becoming the most socially engaged VMAs in history, with a staggering 66.7 million social interactions. As anticipation builds for this year’s edition, all eyes are on the VMAs to once again deliver legendary performances, iconic tributes, and jaw-dropping surprises.
With over four decades of defining pop culture through music, the VMAs continue to honour the best in music video artistry and celebrate the creativity of artists from around the globe.
Nominations, performers, and more exciting announcements are expected to be revealed in the weeks leading up to the show.
The 2025 VMAs are executive produced by Bruce Gillmer and Den of Thieves co-founder Jesse Ignjatovic, with Barb Bialkowski as Co-Executive Producer. Alicia Portugal and Jackie Barba serve as Executives in Charge of Production, Wendy Plaut oversees Celebrity Talent, and Lisa Lauricella leads Music Talent efforts.
