Kerrier Collective & wolf peaches – Rotten Fingers EP: A Deep House Fusion with Jazz and Folk Influences
Kerrier Collective return to Colour and Pitch with the Rotten Fingers EP, a two-track release crafted in collaboration with Sheffield-based songwriter wolf peaches. Following their acclaimed instrumental Life Wants To Live, which earned airplay on BBC 6 Music, NTS, and Jazz FM, the duo—Ben Tidy and Alfie Gidley—now introduce their signature deep house grooves to wolf peaches’ atmospheric songwriting.

A Saturday Night Spin on a Sunday Morning Classic
Title track Rotten Fingers reimagines a downtempo song originally produced by Robin Grey and wolf peaches, transforming it into a slow-burning deep house jam. Kerrier Collective maintain the track’s soulful essence while injecting a 909-driven bassline, hypnotic synths, and jazzy horn sections from longtime collaborator Polly Meyrick. The result? A lush, dancefloor-ready take with nods to both Omar S’s deep techno and Nils Frahm’s cinematic textures.
“We wanted to make the Saturday night version of this Sunday morning jam. We sped it up, got groovin’ with the drums, and layered in strings, horns, and synths. You can hear how much we got into this track—it’s a real meeting point between Kerrier Collective and wolf peaches.”
As Ben Tidy explains:
Exploring Emotional Depths in Fake Silence
Second track Fake Silence takes a more delicate approach, weaving lo-fi percussion, deep sub-bass, and glacial piano chords into an evocative soundscape. wolf peaches’ dreamlike vocals, shaped through an experimental production process, bring a raw emotional intensity to the track.
“When we got Hazel’s vocals back, we treated them like samples, piecing together a chorus and verses. It wasn’t until later that I realized the lyrics were echoing what was happening in my own life at the time.”
Ben Tidy describes the creative process:
The song’s ethereal, introspective mood captures a yearning for authentic expression, echoing themes of self-awareness and emotional connection.
