Louise Volschenk on Fashion, Friction & Motherhood in The Mommy Club: Van Die Hoofstad
Showmax is bringing more glamour, drama, and real motherhood moments to screens with The Mommy Club: Van Die Hoofstad. Following the success of the Johannesburg and Durban editions, this latest instalment shifts the spotlight to Pretoria, where five dynamic Afrikaans women—Ansu Viljoen, Crystal Van Der Burgh, Johandri Johnson, Louise Volschenk, and Tessa Tullues—navigate the highs and lows of motherhood, marriage, and legacy-building.
With The Mommy Club: Van Die Hoofstad premiering on 14 March 2025, we caught up with Louise Volschenk, who shared her take on the show, her personal journey, and what fans can expect from her this season.
Louise Volschenk: More Than Just a Mom
Why Louise Joined The Mommy Club
“For me, motherhood isn’t just about routines and responsibilities—it’s about embracing every moment, the joy, and even the chaos. Joining The Mommy Club: Van Die Hoofstad felt like the perfect opportunity to show my life as a mom, wife, and entrepreneur in a real and relatable way. Plus, every show needs a bit of comedic relief, right?”
Louise shares
From Viewer to Reality Star
“Watching a reality show and actually being part of one are two completely different experiences. As a viewer, you see the highlights, but when you’re living it, you feel everything—the fun, the drama, and those little behind-the-scenes moments that don’t always make the cut.”

The Biggest Lesson? Balance is Everything
Juggling motherhood, marriage, and business isn’t easy, and Louise has learned that self-care is non-negotiable.
“You can’t pour from an empty cup. Taking time for myself isn’t selfish—it’s necessary. Also, humour helps. If I thought I was busy before, the show has taken things to another level, but I’ve mastered the art of planning and time management!”

Fashion, Friendship & Friction
While Louise has bonded most with Tessa Tullues—
“we’re both businesswomen, no-nonsense moms, and love good food and wine”—she acknowledges that where strong personalities collide, drama is inevitable. “I try to keep things lighthearted, but let’s just say, not all moments are smooth sailing!”
What to Expect from Louise This Season
From stylish high-fashion moments to the raw realities of motherhood, Louise promises an exciting season.
“Expect fun, authenticity, and a few surprises. You’ll also get a closer look at my business and personal life—so stay tuned!”
And for those wondering about the drama?
“I believe in resolving conflict with laughter, but when that doesn’t work, I prefer open, honest conversations. Not every battle is worth fighting.”
Dealing with Public Perception
Despite the overwhelming support, Louise has faced some harsh criticism, particularly from Afrikaans women.
“People assume we’re just pretty, rich housewives with no real responsibilities, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. I built my business while running my household and raising my kids—without the help of nannies or au pairs. I think some of the internet trolls will be eating their words once they see what we’re truly capable of.”
Why You Should Watch The Mommy Club: Van Die Hoofstad
If you love a mix of real-life moments, luxury, and drama, this season is a must-watch.
“You’ll see the ups and downs of motherhood, business, and relationships, all with a touch of glamour and plenty of laughter,”.
