When we saw the rain that afternoon, we almost had second thoughts about attending. But true fans know that a little rain can’t keep you from witnessing a global superstar in action. Armed with raincoats, we headed out—and let us tell you, Chris Brown did not disappoint. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or someone just looking for a good time, this concert was everything and more.

The Performance

Chris Brown kicked off the evening with his latest hits, including the crowd-pleaser “Residuals”, before taking us back in time to his 2005 classics. It was a journey through his illustrious career, blending nostalgia with the energy of his current sound. His set was perfectly paced, keeping everyone on their feet and singing along.

During outfit changes and short breaks, his DJ, the phenomenal DJ Fresh, kept the vibe alive with a South African twist. He played local favorites like “Sister Bettina”, as well as tracks from icons like AKA and Riky Rick, earning massive cheers from the crowd. The highlight? Chris himself paid tribute to South African music by incorporating snippets of Amapiano tracks into his performance. His dance moves to the genre had the crowd going wild—proof of his respect for the culture and his ability to adapt to any musical style.

Even with the rain, the energy inside FNB Stadium/Soccer City was electric. With a capacity of 94,736, the venue was packed to the brim, and tickets for the 14th were completely sold out. Fans affectionately dubbed the event the “Breezy Bowl,” comparing it to the USA Super Bowl in terms of hype and attendance.
