Always Friends – Significant Other EP (Remixes)

Following the success of his debut EP ‘Significant Other’ (Release Date: June 14th, 2024) earlier this year on his own ‘No Way Back’ imprint, Austin producer Always Friends, aka Glass Slipper’s Brad Eller, presents a wonderful and varied collection of remixes by Soledrifter, Demarkus Lewis, Col Lawton, Daniel Allen, Southern Oracle and Cuillere.

A veteran producer with decades of experience working with Duo Electro and more recently Glass Slipper, Brad’s new Always Friends sound combines “1/3 deep house, 1/3 dub techno, and 1/3 euphoric vibes, all woven into a seamless auditory tapestry”.

Opening the remix package, Soledrifter tackles the EP’s standout title track. With previous releases on Salted Music, Large and Madhouse in his back catalogue, the Canada-based producer lays down a self-assured version of ‘Significant Other’, creating a fresh rhythmic and sonic variation on the main chord progression, while keeping the original idea alive.

The brilliant Demarkus Lewis gets to grips with ‘Safe Passage’ next, adding his signature timeless house bounce.

“Pretty sure Demarkus loves a good chord progression even more than me. My chords here were probably subconsciously influenced by all of his wonderful productions, so it made sense for him to rock this one.”

Southern Oracle, the new production alias of Davey Schacherl, best known as The Silver Rider summons up a subtle Metro Area feel in his version of ‘Coming Of Age’.

“Davey is one of my best friends here in Austin. His remix is driven by an upfront bassline, flips the original parts, and really shines with his dreamy leads”.

Newcastle’s Col Lawton is a music-making machine and turned in his chilled Deep House remix within a matter of days, filling it with slowed down pads taken from the original track while adding extra musicality and emotion, all simmering above a solid groove.

Denied Music founder Daniel Allen takes ‘Moving Forward’ into moodier realms with a driving acid-tinged reimagining.

“Daniel kind of lives on the dark side of things. His remix is probably the most divergent of the lot, and I love it.”

says Brad

Another Austin artist, Cuillere, rounds out the package with a lo-fi, scratchy dub-house take on ‘Little Chant’.

“I’m really glad he kept the synth bird calls- those took me forever to make”.
