Fun never goes out of fashion and this is a statement that can be universally applied to Pantone Sundays. Self-expression was the unofficial theme, as young Joburgers got together for what was a colourful Pantone Sunday at The Playground in Braamfontein. Black, purple, pink and blue ruled as the multi-colour-themed fashion experience saw local designers, creatives and fashion enthusiasts mix it up with drink, food and great music.

Samsung, through its Future Generation Lab (FGL) marketing division, which is tasked with connecting the company with the next generation of the African consumer, saw an awesome opportunity to take the brand to Generation MZ and considering that Pantone Sundays is one of the platforms where they converge, jumping on board was a no-brainer for FGL. Hosting the latest Pantone Sunday in Braamfontein was also a stroke of genius as it is the epicentre of the target market.

It was a fitting platform to celebrate the creative African spirit. The fashion community showed up and showed off at the event, which affords the industry and anyone interested in it an opportunity to meet and mingle as they network and express their unique identities as well as retro, current, forward-looking or blended fashion ideas.

As per tradition, an exciting line-up of DJs added to the event’s overall flavour as it became apparent it would become one of those unforgettable Pantone Sundays. Designers from Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town showed off their products which included clothes (tops, jackets, pants, headgear) and various accessories including handmade bags, rags, cushions, scented candles etc.

The colourful occasion was also graced by Samsung’s new Galaxy S23 Ultra and The Freestyle portable projector, which showcased their own true colours and the extent of their technological talents. The combination of The Freestyle and the Galaxy S23 Ultra proved to be a match made in technology heaven and showed why these two are the best Samsung gadgets in their respective categories.

Colour and light were brought to darkness in a special booth set up for the sole purpose of showing the prowess of both The Freestyle’s projection and the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s 200-megapixel super camera. Visitors to the booth got to pose and see the exceptional quality of the camera’s pictures on the backdrop of a light emitted by The Freestyle, demonstrating the versatility of both gadgets. Even the threat of load shedding couldn’t have shed any of the fun as the team had come prepared with the battery base to keep The Freestyle running.

When night fell on Pantone Sunday, it was an opportunity for The Freestyle and the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s camera to come to life and show what they’re really made of. With its Nightography and 100x zoom function, the phone continued to capture great quality pictures despite the dark conditions brought on by night.
