Heat waves, thunderstorms, earthquakes . . . the weather is being super dramatic and while heat waves are hot, second waves are not. That’s why PUMA South Africa is keeping it tidy with Select Sessions #StayHome Edition, featuring this month’s line-up: ByLwansta, Yanga Thief, Moonga K, KA$HCPT and Da Capo, exclusive to @pumasouthafrica’s IGTV.

ByLwansta – Thursday, 5 November at 6pm

ByLwansta (aka Lwandile Nkanyuza) is a storyteller, rapper, record producer, art director and multimedia designer. His artistry is heavily rooted in storytelling and establishing an overarching and coherent narrative that expands and evolves throughout his catalogue of music.

Moonga K

Moonga K – Thursday, 12 November at 6pm

Encompassing a myriad of sounds including R&B, soul, electronic and alternative in his music, Moonga K aims to shift social paradigms and speak out through his music, which is informed by his complex background. He has released three albums, most recently a mini-album titled An Oder to Growth, Pt 1 which was released via Platoon in May 2020.

KASHCPT

KA$HCPT – Thursday, 19 November at 6pm

20-year-old singer, rapper and songwriter Ka$hCPT spends his time creating and performing music. A diverse vocalist and rapper, he falls into various categories of sounds including hip-hop, RnB and dancehall. He proudly represents Cape Town and is one of the first out of the new generation of hip hop artists from the city to tour the country and push his music to mainstream spaces.

Da Capo

Da Capo – Thursday, 26 November at 6pm

Undoubtedly one of South Africa’s best when it comes to producing house music, Da Capo is a self-taught producer and DJ with an undeniable talent for creating hit tracks that blaze dance floors across the world. He was named DJ Awards’ Best Afro House DJ 2019 and, under his own record label Genesis Entity, released his first EP, Genesys, as an independent artist in May 2020.

Yanga Chief

You can also catch Yanga Chief chatting to Frypan Mfula for Select Stories The Podcast, streaming to you this Friday, 6 November at 10am. Yanga is a creative with many talents through: rapping and songwriting, production and video direction. Since he was first introduced to the world on AKA‘s Run Jozi he’s continued to create and feature on hits. He released his first EP, Neighbourhood Genius, in 2017 and his second, Becoming A Pop Star, in 2019.
